I will say that mine is smooth fiberglass. I could see a rough surface (especially tiled) shower being an issue.

But lots of high-end double sided tapes should work as a replacement for the adhesives. 3M sells replacement Command strips, they're amazing.
In for one, our shower is still suffering with 3x more stuff than our neck-mounted caddy can handle.
I will say that mine is smooth fiberglass. I could see a rough surface (especially tiled) shower being an issue.
With all the brands trying to sell similar products, it's a game of making a similar looking one with cheaper materials, and glue fits the bill if it saves 1/4 of a penny
