Yes, Linksys LN1301 is a terrific router with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB of flash. Insane! I thought my Netgear R7800 with 512 MB RAM is pretty good until the specs on LN301 blows the R7800 out of the water and is a tri-band router as well!

With wireless mesh (instructions below), it's one heck of a deal and blows DECO AX5000 deal out of the water, imho.

EDIT: UPDATED instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.

set it as an Access Point.
1. Disable DHCP (optional)
2. Set the device to Bridge Mode under Connectivity tab
3. Connect cable from your router to a LAN port.
4. Get some nail polished and a round sticker to cover the annoying flashing right light.
5. Click the 'AC' at the bottom of the page to see the detail configurations of wifi.

Yes, Woot sells some items from third party sellers. In this case, it's from Sohnen Enterprises Inc. Mine took 11 days since ordering to arrive.

If it's fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) items on Woot, usually it comes within 2-3 days. Stuff like refurbished cell phones on Woot are usually from a third party seller as well.

Uhhhh
You convert the router to child nodes one at a time. I just did 3 and set them to the side.
The TP link extender would be a last leg item. used to extend the range of the SSID network beyond the children. it can not be used to extend the range inbetween children.
Thank you. Im sorry, idk exactly what you mean by ssdi. Are you saying the tplink will use the entire mesh and extend range from wherever in the Linksys it's getting the best signal? Or that it would only connect to the parent router and relay the signal from there?

I'm not trying to make the tplink thing one of the "child nodes". I was thinking maybe I could use it to go farther to our detached garage?

Thanks again!

The tplink is just a "thing" that connects to the mesh network like a laptop, and then makes/broadcasts its own network. So you would have your mesh with a SSID (name of the network you connect to like TEDWIFI), the tplink would connect to that, and then creates another network called "TEDWIFIEXTEND" or "TEDWIFIGARAGE". Anything fixed in the garage you would have just joining tedwifigarage, and cell phones etc that wonder around your place, you would have join both tedwifi and tedwifi garage, so that once they are out of range of tedwifi they would join tedgarage.

Ideally you just fork over the extra $20 and buy a 4th linksys and put the tplink out to pasture. The distance between two linksys can be alot further than you think, since they have much better antennas than your cell phone.

For my example, i can not get a good wifi signal with my cell phone in my garage that is 60-70ft away from the parent, but the child that is in the garage can. Then my cell phone connects to the child in the garage. The connection is pretty slow (50-100mbs) but its more than enough to stream youtube and stuff.

Mine came in an original Linksys brown outer container that had the UPS label. There was another white box inside which had the router and looked pristinely.

Interesting, my 3 were mint. Maybe they did yours right after their lunch break?
Quote from Trialchicken :
Exact dimension of the box are 12 x 10.5 x 5.5 inches. Weight listed on shipping was 4 lbs. I ordered a quantity of 2 in the same order and received a separate two of these boxes with their own tracking numbers.

Box within fit like a glove containing the mx4300 itself. That one didn't have any tamper seals. Router within was snuggly placed on foam inserts. One of them came with a weird stain on the plastic. Both had scratches on the bottom label. Likely when handling to flash new firmware and labels.

edit: bought from woot

That's great news! The extender might be overkill anyway once I have the mesh set up. I have a three story house, and sometimes the signal sucks in the basement or the garage. So I was trying to envision how I might get a good signal everywhere.

I already forked over the extra $20 for the THIRD one.

Anyway ty so much for your answers! I get it now and with a little luck this will be great! Way better than what we have now.

On stock there is a 2.4g guests and on main 3 ssids you can configure one 2.4g and two 5g ones
So guest is automatically only 2.4, that's great. Thanks!

You can use one of the 5g ones as guest but I guess it may not be isolated....

If I only use this as an Access Point in Bridge Mode, does the Guest Wifi transmit packets on a separate VLAN?

Not really because there is no way to configure vlan ID although you can put openwrt and achieve that which I plan to do

Thanks. I figured openwrt was the answer, but I wasn't sure if the linksys firmware supported as it seem openwrt is still a work in progress for support. Hope this works better than my aging Apple Airport Extreme.

Is there a limit of how many you can mesh? Just returned my Eero as I wasn't happy with the speed drop off from one mesh to the next. I have an Asus router now and it's been amazing. Hoping for the same with this model but want to expand using mesh.
