Yes, Linksys LN1301 is a terrific router with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB of flash. Insane! I thought my Netgear R7800 with 512 MB RAM is pretty good until the specs on LN301 blows the R7800 out of the water and is a tri-band router as well!

With wireless mesh (instructions below), it's one heck of a deal and blows DECO AX5000 deal out of the water, imho.

EDIT: UPDATED instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.

set it as an Access Point.
1. Disable DHCP (optional)
2. Set the device to Bridge Mode under Connectivity tab
3. Connect cable from your router to a LAN port.
4. Get some nail polished and a round sticker to cover the annoying flashing right light.
5. Click the 'AC' at the bottom of the page to see the detail configurations of wifi.

Can I get a real life answer here on the mesh performance and speed tests? And to the people that are currently using for mesh what firmware are you using? Someone here posted this router has issues with wall penentration, I thought that was most routers can anyone give some insight on their own experiences so far? Was considering getting rid of my deco mesh (tha's been solid so far) and diving into this because now I'll have 3 units over 2 and possibly more coverage via mesh also the ability to have 4 ethernet ports on the back.
As others mentioned it'll heavily depend on your environment. I've been tinkering with mine taking 30 test samples with different configs, about 25 feet apart horizontally and separated by one floor in a wooden rambler home, with stock firmware and in mesh mode. I also only measured node to node speeds since the PCs (x3) that ran speed tests were plugged in to one of the 2 child nodes. I have TMo home Internet, which may also not necessarily offer the highest possible bandwidth, but it was still most of the time limited by the Linksys mesh.
I don't have the exact numbers on me since I'm away from that property and the computer where that spreadsheet lives, but I can give you a few numbers that I remember. The top speed I got was 480mb. In fully auto mesh mode the range of speeds was the widest, from 80mb to about 280. I then tinkered some more and realized that 5ghz bands use separate channels (band 1- low channels, 36-48, and band 2 - in the 150s-160s). When I isolated the bands I got more consistent results, with lower band performing really well, up to 360-450mb, and the higher band averaging about 80mb. So in my environment and with my devices, the dynamic back haul made the speeds super inconsistent when automatic, due to the higher bands' poor performance.
Ping was about 20-30 on average, and latency was about 100-160 on average, if that matters to you. Hope this helps.

Probably your wifi adapter is AC (Wifi 5). This LinkSys is a much improved AX (WiFi 6).

The linksys router will support wifi 5 devices but who knows the issues given your ancient PC wifi adapter...

Replace your ancient PC wifi adapter to a Wifi 6 card, or better yet run an ethernet cable as wifi is not as good as ethernet -- a non-moving device should always be wired IMHO.

I wonder it also has to do with 5ghz vs 2.4 ghz and mesh mode. And it doesn't see it all? Are you running it in mesh in all auto settings?

What adapter are you using. The Linksys I believe supports all the older WiFi standards. You can change it from mixed to whatever your network interface supports and reduce your speeds for that band while you test it. I suspect it's a different issue however.

likely this adapter Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), not 100% sure, but everywhere it says new router always backwards compatible...

Anyone know how many devices this can control? I have tons of wifi light switches and blinds and cameras, etc. Also can you separate 2.4 and 5ghz channels or do they both need to be on one ssid?

Also any way to order 4 at this price? I think it said coupon can be used once, right?
You can have separate said for each of the three bands…

This is probably not the right place to post this, but I am so thrown off by this new lay-out for SlickDeals Forum Threads ... I'm trying to "search" this thread for "VLAN" to see if anyone commented on whether or not VLAN is supported by this device ... I can't find the search button! I'm in the slickdeals forum (yellow background) and when I click the post, I get to his new interface with a white background, different layout etc... there used to be a feature that said "click here for Forum Thread" but I can't find that if it exists?
not on stock

I assume you can't adjust TTL on the stock interface? Can you using OpenWRT?
