I did live in coastal Maine for a year. Also we went on a 35 day road trip through New England the end of September & most of October 2023. Included ME, VT, NY & PA among other states. This jacket appears to be perfect for the chillier fall days and higher elevations. It would definitely not be enough for the coldest winter days other than maybe hopping in the car and running to the store for something. And I couldn't comment on how this jacket might insulate against the wind. Hope this may be helpful.
