Not renewed, refurbished, pre-owned, etc. Used.
I've experienced Amazon's horrible refurbishment firsthand -- Gen1 Echo, Kindle Oasis. It's a roll of the dice at best. A spit shine -- minus the shine, with extra spit.
You want to take a chance, by all means. I'd rather spend that money elsewhere -- maybe on a product not as premium, but at least the company backs up their stuff. A product that isn't someone's yard sale used & abused electronics.
