Total by Verizon is probably the worst Telco I've ever dealt with. They never honored the deal I signed up for, I had major dramas just porting my number in, their support is worse than helpless and will typically just hang up on you, etc. Avoid this company like the plague.
In reality, NO, they cannot. So in your mind you might be thinking, let me try and see if I can port in from, let's say "AT&T" and take advantage of this $15.00/mo deal by just using the promo code: BYEBYETMO or whatever promo code they're pimping to get customers in on the $15/mo special offer. Once you use that code and port in your number, it's a sold, done deal! You've now got yourself a 5 year $15/mo cell phone plan with Unlimited data.

The drop down that asks what company you are porting in from is for marketing/data purposes only and has no bearing on them knowing what company your phone number or account number belong to. The WLNP or Porting system is a national system that will automatically route the request to the losing carrier. Verizon, Visible or Total or any carrier will have no way of knowing that, until they receive the data/report that they will run off of the WLNP port system for their board meetings or press releases that they can brag about. By that time, it'll to way past the end date of the promo and they're really not going to snatch you off the plan, because it'll be a nightmare!
Verizon finally is no longer sitting back watching the small time player beat up on their big team. They will definitely be taking a lot of cost conscious customers back that they lost over the past few years with this one. Holiday season is right around the corner, too.
I suspect that that once they hit a home run with this one, they'll launch a new promo to get the $15 customers to bump up by $5 or so to the next tier, Just like T-Mobile did when they started uncarrier.

Don't take my word for it. Read what other people have experienced with them too: https://slickdeals.net/f/17520366-new-customers-total-by-verizon-bring-your-own-phone-and-get-unlimi...
I had billing issues on their May promotion, raised case with FCC, FTC, BBB and disputed the charge on my chase CC. Chase requested I get them a written confirmation which I did not have, instead I provided them what they billed me when I started my service and Chase accepted and approved my claim.

TBV mobile app and their portal reflected the discounts but in July it recalculated without the discount. I waited for my Aug bill and it got billed with the right discounts as reflected on the app and portal. Keeping my fingers crossed for Sept billing.

TBV customer service was and is in denial of the promotion or promotional discounts other than that their CS has been good while porting and device setup. I had my family spread over three accounts totaling 14 lines. Had challenges porting Google Fi plans and their CS followed up continuously with updates on the status of the ticket.

update:- The billing issue was with all the 3 accounts on their 1st auto billing. Two accounts got rightly billed in Aug and one account is yet to get its 2nd bill.

Dealing with them was such a bad experience that I just decided to port out ASAP (to Mint actually), and I'm so glad I did - no issues or dramas since. There's no way I'd trust TbV to take care of any problem in future!

Answered own question: No. You have to port both lines from Mint, which I can't do.

Guess I'm going to US Mobile.
If you don't use much data-I see you're on 1gb, look into getting both lines on shared data at US Mobile-2gb shared, $18 for both lines, no taxes.

Does anyone know the QCI of this plan?
This is the important question that many people overlook. I "think" total is higher than visible but don't quote me.

Total is QCI 8, unless they've made some new plan just for this deal.

would it be possible to sign up with the $179 iPhone 12 deal for 1 month for 2 lines. cancel the line. I think phones are locked for a year?

sign up with this deal and bring 2 lines from Mint, using a different IMEIs, then either move the physical sim or use the eSim for the iPhone 12s purchased above?

Only 5 years? And it requires 2+ lines? Doesn't seem like a deal compared to Mint unless the data isn't throttled and hotspot works.
How can you get Mint for $15 Unlimited?

I really want to go back to Verizon or one of their "brands", but they don't have 5G in my area. Even though their map shows 5G Ultra Wideband saturating my entire city, I only get LTE Frown
