Total by Verizon is probably the worst Telco I've ever dealt with. They never honored the deal I signed up for, I had major dramas just porting my number in, their support is worse than helpless and will typically just hang up on you, etc. Avoid this company like the plague.

In reality, NO, they cannot. So in your mind you might be thinking, let me try and see if I can port in from, let's say "AT&T" and take advantage of this $15.00/mo deal by just using the promo code: BYEBYETMO or whatever promo code they're pimping to get customers in on the $15/mo special offer. Once you use that code and port in your number, it's a sold, done deal! You've now got yourself a 5 year $15/mo cell phone plan with Unlimited data.

The drop down that asks what company you are porting in from is for marketing/data purposes only and has no bearing on them knowing what company your phone number or account number belong to. The WLNP or Porting system is a national system that will automatically route the request to the losing carrier. Verizon, Visible or Total or any carrier will have no way of knowing that, until they receive the data/report that they will run off of the WLNP port system for their board meetings or press releases that they can brag about. By that time, it'll to way past the end date of the promo and they're really not going to snatch you off the plan, because it'll be a nightmare!
Verizon finally is no longer sitting back watching the small time player beat up on their big team. They will definitely be taking a lot of cost conscious customers back that they lost over the past few years with this one. Holiday season is right around the corner, too.
I suspect that that once they hit a home run with this one, they'll launch a new promo to get the $15 customers to bump up by $5 or so to the next tier, Just like T-Mobile did when they started uncarrier.

Does anyone know the QCI of this plan?
I think it's QCI 9 which is the same as Visible basic plan, except in 5G UW areas. Visible $45 plan has 50 Gb of QCI 8.

Maybe it's naive of me, but I've been with Mint for 5 years and feel a certain sense of loyalty to them. They've always been transparent in their pricing and I've generally had no problems with the service. I'm certain V is only offering this because they've discovered they've been losing more and more business to the lower cost carriers. If not for the loss of customers, V would have NEVER done this.
so what's your benefit of being a loyal customer with Mint? Do they give you more discount?

"What you see is what you get – no hidden fees, no surprises. "

so $180/year exactly? unlike $200+ after mint adds carious fees? if so it's a deal indeed

Does this base plan include any international roaming? I see something about 10gb in the footnote on the promo page, but I actually can't find any 10G data roaming details on the plan details. If this plan comes with 10GB Mexico/Canada (and etc) data roaming, I think this is a great deal TBH.

If you want cheap Verizon network, I highly recommend US Mobile. They've got regular prices of $210-390 a year for their unlimited plans ($25-$35 monthly). Those prices include all fees/taxes. They also now support VZW, T-Mobile, and ATT networks and porting from one to the other takes about 10 minutes. I was on vacation in rural Wisconsin and VZW had zero coverage, but T-Mobile had several bars. A quick connection to WiFi and a few clicks and eSIM swap and I was moved over to T-Mobile's network. It's $2 a swap after a few free ones.

Only issue I have had with them was my wife's galaxy s21 which was purchased from VZW didn't play nice with their network. According to USMobile and VZW that is a Samsung + MVNO issue that Samsung broke in November and will eventually fix.

I really don't understand the offer if Visible offers only 1 line requirement for promo. Where's the value proposition?
Visible requires Tmobile postpaid. This deal targets Mint and Metro customers

Can someone explain how to get mint mobile for 15$ monthly? It says it's 15$ only for 3 months. I'm OK with taking up to 3 lines and I'll I'm fine with the lowest tier plan. I just can't figure out how to get the 15$ a month price that's not introductory

I have been using Total Wireless for a month to buy a phone.
On US Mobile, which uses the same Verizon, only 5G is displayed, but on Total Wireless, it is displayed as 5GUW. I couldn't measure the speed because US Mobile data is not unlimited, but anyway, that's how it is displayed.
I'm on a $10 US Mobile plan so I won't switch to Total Wireless, but if I were to spend $15 I would switch to Total Wireless.

Visible is the better deal, because there are no taxes.

Mint never tries to hide things in fine print or anything like that. That why people prefer them over other carriers.
Well, isn't Mint a pioneer in the liberal use of the term "unlimited"? That's pretty deceptive. Mint's fees are also pretty high on long term plans. Plus they lock you in long term in order to get the most competitive price. One could always try this and then port back to mint if you weren't happy

I was wondering the same thing. It seems the kind of deal I'd jump onto without thinking twice, but I don't know that doing things without thinking twice is smart 😅
