It's been a while since the last holiday season.

The release of College Football 25 has driven up console sales in July and Aug. Its inclusion on Game Pass is speculated to have increased sales of the xbox s. PS5 went up about 25% YOY, xbox x/s is up 48% YOY.

For that matter, it is normal for college kids moving into their dorms to drive up sales in a lot of home goods, laptops, and inexpensive / low end electronics related to entertainment, etc. Generally the parents are not willing to splurge and the kids want their stuff when they move in or shortly after and can't / won't wait until the next sale are depleting the used market

Traded XBS|S in with xb1 controller with stick drift. Used the "No trade left behind" policy and purchased their $50 XB controller for $24, they accepted the damaged controller for $11 credit and was able to put towards for a pre-owned Nintendo Switch.

Can the trade in credit be used to buy gift cards? I'm seeing conflicting info on their site.

What is the no trade left behind policy?

I use my Xbox Series S too much to do this, but if I upgraded to the big one, maybe. (Or maybe not... we don't have a GameStop in the immediate vicinity anymore.)
Trade it in for $250 and get a used series x with a warranty for $350...

I think the question you have to ask yourself is how long GameStop will stay in business. Don't expect to get that money back if they go bankrupt...which is only a matter of time IMHO.
You should learn to read a balance sheet before posting...

It can be used to buy video game currency like the ones you mentioned in-store only - not on the website. The website can't differentiate between trade credit and gift cards. It can't be used to buy iTunes, Amazon, eBay, etc.

I'm just curious, how long does it take for their inventory to show they have an item available?

I checked for local gs stores that had a used series s and only one store nearby had 1 in stock. I traded mine in on Thursday night but it still doesn't show up that it's available at the store I traded it to.

Just curious

Same here. I traded mine in Thursday and the system shows none available.

Do you have to trade in the controller too? I have an S that I haven't used since I got an X so this has me considering it.
Yes. Even need the HDMI cable and anything else. Doesn't necessarily have to be the exact one.

I traded in my Xbox S in, got the store credit for pro members and bought steam cards. The 5% for members was applied but not the promotional 10% off (15% total). I didn't mind but others may have better luck with this.

I have mine still wrapped in the box. Honestly I'm not a console gamer and thought I'd flip it at some point, give it to my son (who has a PS5), or use it myself. Well, as I say I don't know the consoles and heard the disc version had a blu-ray player. I opened the box a few months ago and didn't realize the Series S did NOT have a drive in it. I closed it back up and it has just sat in the closet. I also bought the matching white controller a month or two later from Verizon for $20 or something like that... still in the box. I do use XBox controllers on my pc playing certain games and figured this would be a backup. What are they trading in controllers for at this point?
Oh man, I missed the controller deal. I would have jumped on that.
I don't know what they are trading in controllers but considering it has to be "used" and yours is still sealed you can make far more off Facebook marketplace without much more hassle.

Considering I bought my xbox series s a year ago for $150 this is pretty wild.
Yeah, that's about the time it was on sale, a year ago. It was very wild. I was gonna buy one from target just a few months earlier for $200 but the wife talked me out of it because it didn't have a disk drive and we get a lot of our games from the library. When it got to $150 and a controller by itself is $60 that was a no brainer. Now the kids play it more than the PS5 because of gamepass.
