It's been a while since the last holiday season.

The release of College Football 25 has driven up console sales in July and Aug. Its inclusion on Game Pass is speculated to have increased sales of the xbox s. PS5 went up about 25% YOY, xbox x/s is up 48% YOY.

For that matter, it is normal for college kids moving into their dorms to drive up sales in a lot of home goods, laptops, and inexpensive / low end electronics related to entertainment, etc. Generally the parents are not willing to splurge and the kids want their stuff when they move in or shortly after and can't / won't wait until the next sale are depleting the used market

What am I missing here? Why would GameStop pay so much for these when they were widely for sale under $200 last holiday season?
Series S and One S are different

I tried to give my xbox one x to my nephew but he'd rather play pc games
I bought it for Blu-ray player, games were bonuses if u want to justify the buy.

I see GameStop raising the price on these after getting all the XSX. But without Blu-ray player, I rather get a ps5 console knowing NOW ps5 pro can do Xbox games and everything else. If only I had time and space.

How do you convert to cash?

Wondering about this too. They gave me $330 when I traded in my Series S a year or two ago. I dunno what to spend it on since I already have a Series X...maybe one of their graded Pokemon cards??

how to convert GS credit to cash? teach me
Easy Peasy: Just foillow these steps:

1. Trade in for credit
2. Buy random item using all the credit at store #1
3. Request a "gift receipt"
4. Return item to store #2 unopened with gift receipt.
5. Get cash for return

I'm a little conflicted on what to do here - I was one of the many who picked up a Series S for $150 from Verizon a year ago, but haven't touched it. I was intending on converting it into an emulation machine using RetroArch and giving it to the kids, but I have no idea if they would be interested in that kind of thing (they are 7 and 5 years old). Is this still good for that, or is it a pain in the ass to set up and use?

That said, I am also interested in the upcoming PS5 Pro, and am considering cashing in on this deal to help finance the new Pro model. I don't have a 'GameStop Pro' membership - is it worth the $25 fee JUST for this deal? Or would you hold onto it for retro gaming?

Gift receipt will still pull original transaction up in their system to identify original form of payment. Why would they give cash instead of store credit? Makes no sense.

It's worth it to trade in for credit and then purchase a 64GB Steam Deck for $265. I purchased one and it came looking brand new. Get a 1TB drive for $50-100.

$10 per month just to play online with "game pass core" is a rip off. Even more so if you have a large family... Steam lets you share your games with 5 other people now and no online subscription needed.

Thanks OP.

Just trade in a 512GB with original box and accessories for $157.50 cash out of the door. ( Seattle, WA) CSR was really helpful and advise me to trade in for full $225 credit then sale it for easy $200. Well, consider extra hours I have to deal with strangers...... I am happy for now!

Gift receipt has two barcodes. They list the item and the price paid at time of purchase. Additionally, you can convert to cash in some states by taking the credit in $5 increments, because certain states have low balance laws that require a business to refund low balances left on cards. I think California has the highest minimum at $10.

So you bought one for $150 15 months ago just now selling it?
I feel like you could have gotten much closer to $300 selling it on facebook last summer.

I have mine still wrapped in the box. Honestly I'm not a console gamer and thought I'd flip it at some point, give it to my son (who has a PS5), or use it myself. Well, as I say I don't know the consoles and heard the disc version had a blu-ray player. I opened the box a few months ago and didn't realize the Series S did NOT have a drive in it. I closed it back up and it has just sat in the closet. I also bought the matching white controller a month or two later from Verizon for $20 or something like that... still in the box. I do use XBox controllers on my pc playing certain games and figured this would be a backup. What are they trading in controllers for at this point?
