Why is that? I have never played as many games as this gen thanks to Xbox and Game Pass.

Nothing on PS makes me remotely interested in switching from that 🤷 ♂️

I verified my account for student discounts however the base price is already on sale for $450. Does the student discount still apply? I added it to my cart but the price did not get to $359.

edit: didnt read another comment, but you need to activate student discounts in your account page

This will be $299 with games on BF. If you waited this long I would suggest waiting it out another 2 1/2 months for a better deal.
