Usually stock up on Charcoal during Labor day or Memorial day. For the last few years the sales have been horrible. Best deal I found so far is at Kroger ($0.42/lb) . Home Depot charging $10.99 for 14 lbs and Lowes is $7.98 for 10lbs. Both also selling Kingsford for $17.88 for 32lbs ($0.55 /lb).

Pretty sure Kroger is clearing out their grilling supplies for the year. First Kroger I went to had 6 bags so probably limited supplies.

PS. I like the extra large Briquettes seems to burn for a long time.

I got a bunch of these at Lowe's on sale for about this price. I don't care for it. It does not get as hot as kingsford.

my experience with these (also got in on the Lowes sale) has been nothing short of disastrous. The charcoal ashes over to the point of snuffing itself out. I have to shake/shock the grill to get the ash off, otherwise the fire will go out on is own, with the charcoal only half burnt.

I would never use Royal Oaks briquettes again. Heck, the experience will probably keep me away from the brand completely in the future, no matter how cheap.
