Also, lower weight 5, 10 LB set isn't useless in my use case because my wife uses the 5 LB ones and I use the 10 LB for high rep finishes after my 3rd set especially on shoulder raises.
The grips on these types are great, I very much prefer them over the regular, but the rubber coating I don't like, it makes them so much bigger. I have a set that goes to 105# and once you get even to the 50# the dumbbells are so much larger than ones without the rubber, can make them just weird/awkward to use for some exercises. Doing bench presses with the 105# just so much more difficult because they feel clumsy.
And as others have said, I've bought my rubber coated ones at various times from different places and all of them have a terrible smell that lasts for a long time. Mine are in the garage so not as big a deal but if you have them in the house they will stink up the house, it is that bad.
