This is a perfect budget build for me to carry to the LAN party instead of hauling my full-size system.

Hmm, with the bonus 1TB M.2 and 10% off promo code it feels like I should jump on this right away..
Any decent heatsink deals to go with this? I don't feel I need the most efficient or watercooled thingamajig... without a good deal on a new heatsink, I'm mostly going to try and reuse an old Coolermaster 212 Evo I had installed like 10 years ago.

Promo code AFFIRMLDW from the other thread works to bring it to $238.48
EDIT: The 10% savings code "AFFIRMLDW" is only for when using the AFFIRM monthly payment plan option with associated ~15% APR interest. Should be able to pay it off early and avoid most of the interest, but seems like a hassle ATM.

this is a horrible reason to buy another pc. you have a shopping problem friend

anyway this is n amazing budget gamer deal, its only about 5% lower performance than 5800x3d and much better thermals.

Assumed this was the case so thx for mentioning it, that AFFIRM sh*t is absolute cansur.

Speaking of, almost broke the Never Newegg policy for this one (specifically MBs, for clarity) but ofc the actually slick price is bound to usury. Quelle surprise.

Damn! This is tempting but I really don't need it. This is basically a top of the line pc build. Toss a decent graphics card in it and you'd be able to play any modern title with ease.

This is a great deal however this is not in any way, shape or form a top of the line PC build. It's a perfect budget/entry level build. I have a 3060 in my existing PC I was hoping to bring over to a new PC and this fits the bill perfectly.

If you're talking about a 1U server chassis, I am not aware of any 1U chassis that accommodates an mATX board - there may be one out there though. Keep in mind that the processor in this deal doesn't have integrated graphics, so it needs a dedicated GPU, which I don't think the 1U form factor supports. Also 1U chassis require a non-standard PSU (TFX or Flex I believe).

2U server chassis can support ATX power supplies and support an mATX motherboard like in this deal - even so, with 4 DIMM slots, a mATX board can be a tight fit in a 2U case. Again you'll need a GPU for graphics output with this processor; there are GPUs that will fit in a 2U case, although they are a specialty size.

I had a 1u chassis and was wondering if I could use this as an upgrade. Thank you for the note.

I think there is a lot of misconception when it come down to so-called 30% faster. It maybe is 30% faster in some CPU bonded games, which is actually far and few, and typically applies to so called competitive games, were the FPS is already 150 and higher. Now if you're talking about where the added FPS would actually be tangible, as in, games that running 40 frame per second versus 50 or 60 frame per second, those were almost always be graphic card bonded not CPU bonded. changing processor between the two will never bring a game that runs 40 frame per second to 50 frame per secondtldr, Yes there is a difference in performance, but no, for game that can actually showcase that difference, it's merely icing on the cake. for game that you actually struggle to get playable frame per second, neither processor will make a difference.
FYI, the term is "CPU-bound," not "bonded."
