Shows $549 but OUT OF STOCK but it really is banned in California as of 1/1/24. I ended up buying an electric Dewalt mower for the yard and couldn't be happier.
Which Dewalt model, how many batteries does it have and what's the size of the mowing area? Trying to see if it'll mow about 3500 Sq ft in one charge? Thank you in advance
Really, really, really need this. All year my DeWALT electric mowers and batteries have been failing me in a long drawn out string of events that would be almost comical if it weren't for the HOA getting involved. Literally threw good money after bad until I had nothing left for a good mower. Even if I had more money to throw at it, I can't even buy another due to the recalls.
Only way I got the lawn mowed was to borrow my landlord's 40V Ryobi… and that didn't go well either. The battery immediately got stuck inside leaving me with only the second, fake, battery that could only do a few passes per charge (fits two and allows you to switch). Took me nearly a week to mow like that! Other than that, I liked it better than the DeWALT DCMWSP244 (headlight, better folding mechanism, RWD, etc) but the plastic deck is garbage. It flexes allowing the blade to contact and occasionally gets clumps of grass pinched between the crosscut blades and the deck, stopping the motor.

Maybe the new Gen3 DeWALT or new FlexVolt is decent but they aren't currently available due to a recall and the Gen1/2 is notoriously bad. Stay far away from Gen1/2.
I have two of the FWD Gen2 direct drive units (DCMWSP244), both failed, and dozens of failed DCB210 battery packs (the standard bundle). Lots of people online reporting the same issues: one just dead; another runs for seconds then surges and turns off. The belt drive Gen1 was even worse.
Other issues: All the paint was gone from under my deck in one season despite cleaning the bottom regularly. Cable from the self-propelled lever gets chewed up when folding the handle down to store vertically.

However, it shows out of stock and $549.99 on brickseek.
Which is more accurate?
I'd trust Brickseek on this. When HD says Limited Stock, it usually means that there may be a display model, but 99% of the time, it's out of stock.
I bought the HRX217K5VK a few weeks ago for $549. One store in MA had 32 in stock. There were none in CT or RI or anywhere else in MA. I talked to the worker there and he said that particular store always stocks up on mowers and snow blowers. Not sure how accurate the reports are, but I've read that Honda is no longer going to produce gas mowers in the US.
