A refurb'ed Seagate hard drive from a third party...for those that do not care about their data lol, but to each his own.
Those who care have it in more than one spot

And you usually get what you pay for in this type of situation imo, but again, to each his own. Seagate's rep has always been spotty and I would not buy their drives over WDs in new condition let alone refurb'ed, but that is me. Recertified by Seagate hardly inspires any sort of confidence imo.
You're conflating their consumer line with their enterprise line and for issues that happened a decade ago.

Ironwolf drives are just as solid as WD Red.

These aren't even used refurbs, so there's no reason to be so hyperbolic. Chances are they needed a refurb due to shipping abuse, which is something that can happen with any drive.

Anecdotal. Their reputation is what it is for a reason. Not that WD is significantly better at this point (as imo they have been cheapening up some of their stuff in the past few years), but a refurb'ed Seagate (i.e., one that has likely failed once already) is not where I would go, but again to each his own.
I would rather have two of these with five year warranty than a new drive with only a three year warranty, but "to each his own".

You don't even know why these were refurbished, so you're just spouting nonsense at this point.

A brand new drive has a higher failure rate than one that got a second look over by the manufacturer.

It's clear by the fact that your only other base of comparison is WD that you either lack experience with enterprise drives or you're just regurgitating forum posts from 2012.

Seagate's enterprise line doesn't have a "reputation".

Stay in your lane.

The "0 hours" claim is incredibly misleading. It isn't necessarily 0 hours because it hasn't been used, it's 0 hours because the SMART data has been reset.

The Ironwolf is not their enterprise line, that's the Exos. Also, there's no way to know how much these drives have been used, as the SMART data has been wiped.

Any links for the 2.5" version of this?
There's nothing remotely close to this in the 2.5" arena. 2.5" hard drives are very niche now. I believe high capacity models only go to something like 6TB, are unusually tall, and are all SMR.

Refurbished drives are fine for cold storage. Useful for archiving/storing backups offline. I don't use them for active storage. however, I'd consider them with jellyfin/plex, as anything lost is easily replaceable.

Refurb drives absolutely fine for important data if you use RAID/SHR for redundancy and have a solid backup strategy...2 cents.

They aren't used at all.

They're 0 hours reset because of testing during refurbishment. If you somehow believe brand new drives aren't also powered up briefly, I have a bridge to sell you.

The brief runtime is far more negligible than the mechanical testing that happens on numerous other products.

As for Ironwolf drives not being enterprise drives: These are the Pro model. They're far closer to Exos than Barracuda in terms of design and function. If you disagree, save yourself some cash and just buy Barracudas.

I'm going to give it a shot. It will be my first refurbed drive in 30 years of drive usage. I recently ordered 2 new EXOS 20 TB drives and 1 kept resetting itself - I lost all data and had to reformat twice. Got a new drive from Seagate to replace the bad drive and it was completely dead - my pc couldn't recognize it. Got another replacement and it seems to be working so far. I'm planning to use it as a redundant backup drive, so we'll see how it goes.

I looked up, says 140.40 with coupon code. I expanded the price details and it showed a coupon for 15 and change. This is the coupon I see. YUSPGIW7WWYRNY7M.
