I've been waiting for this sale. Keep in mind you might get a rebate for smart thermostats from your local utility company, in Texas they come as a $50 coupon only good at select stores like Home Depot. This offer is just as good though. I have this thermostat upstairs and have been waiting to get another downstairs.

Ecobee is awesome. I just bought a Daikin system and have to their total crap thermostat. Now I have to sell my Ecobee 4 and it makes me sad.

Ecobee is no longer providing developer access which is required to fully integrate this into home assistant. You can still do the HomeKit route but it limits features.

Note if you already have an account with developer access, you can continue to use it for new thermostats

Does Nest still not allow to configure the maintenance band? I tried a Nest a couple of years ago and I think it was 1°F. My thermostat was set to 74°F and it waited until the temperature went to 75°F and then cooled down to 73°F.

With Ecobee I have set it to 0.5°F which is way more comfortable for my home.

Can anybody comment on a large house with four HVAC units? I kind of figure I will need four thermostats, but how do they work in coordination with each other? Asking from somebody that knows or has multiple units.

Moved and switched from nest to ecobee.... Really enjoying its products overall including doorbell and sensors. The whole door sensors automatically turning off the HVAC when a door is open is a game changer for me and these sensors for not running the AC upstairs when no one is up there is great too.

Should be able to make them follow the same schedules if you would like and each sensor can be paired to multiple HVACs so if you place them around the house you can make a single or multiple HVAC units turn on/off based on the results from the sensors.

I have this one. One thing I would advise doing is sealing the hole the wires come through from the wall through the plate. A little dab of expanding foam spray will do. The humidity and temp monitor is close to that area and if that wall happens to be connected to an outside wall, it won't have the right humidity and temp of the room. Once that hole was plugged, the temp and humidity finally reflected the indoor accurately.

I've been integrating into Home Assistant via HomeKit and it works flawlessly, you still get all the hooks from what I can tell, including the home/away status.

We've had an Ecobee for a couple years and I can't imagine going with any other brand, and certainly not Google. We didn't have a C wire on our old furnace but support was AMAZING and helped me out over the phone. I cannot stress how remarkable their installation support team was. Also, the remote sensors are great for ensuring the perfect temperature in the rooms that matter. We have a sensor in our bedroom for summer (when we use AC) and downstairs in winter (when we use heat).
