I have to disagree with you there. I have 64 devices connected to four LN1301s in a router + mesh network and performance has been decent and stable for nearly a week now. I have 16 IP cameras streaming 1080p video 24/7 as well. (Half of them via Ethernet bridging with the mesh nodes)

Mind you that I only have 100Mbps Spectrum internet but I do stream/direct play 4k videos from a Plex media server to several Amazon Firestick 4k devices without issue. Overall IMO you would be hard pressed to find such relatively decent hardware for so cheap; especially a Mesh network.

It wasn't all smooth at first mind you. I kept getting disconnects; especially with the streaming IP cameras. But I discovered by disabling Express Forwarding all my streaming issues went away. (CA>Connectivity>Administration>Express Forwarding)

I'm guessing that Cisco's/Linksys' proprietary Express Forwarding routing protocol was causing havoc with the IP cams streaming capabilities. Also, disabling Node Steering seemed to make things more stable as well; mesh nodes no longer disconnect from the router when Node Steering is disabled. (CA>Wi-Fi Settings>Advanced>Node Steering)
User feedback across two years indicates better performance with all three off. Express forwarding seems to negatively affect streaming. Node steering interferws with Google Home and Apple Homekit. Client steering slows connection down if you have more than one router.

Of course, user experience can vary so feel free to experiment. if the routers are giving you problems, try turning these features off and see if it works
Still waiting for mine to ship from the last $15 deal. Just checked and Woot says SEPT 13. Hasn't even shipped yet.

It's not a deal if you never receive it.

So far not so good. This is like stepping back in time of 2010 era and not 2024. Doesn't even have 80Mhz. WiFi6 supposedly has 160Mhz channel width. This router only allows me to select a max of 40Mhz.

So you're returning? And is this affecting performance?

$15 can't return. I'll just give it away or something.

According to Reddit, the Auto setting should give you 80mhz. How's the range on this in your opinion?

Ordered one from amazon for $20. I don't have prime and can't get the woot one with free shipping.

Will try to add it my Asus AX-86u as mesh.
100% does not work with OTHER mesh ecosystems. Has to match mesh type.
ex. Deco, OneMesh, Intelligent Mesh, etc

has anyone do a speed tests on these LN1301?

lan maxed at 890-910mbps.
my iphone 13 max 650mbps using iperf test. any setting to make wifi faster?
linksys's fw show AC while Openwrt show AX but speed still the same.

Just curious what are you doing on your phone that needs more than 650Mbps? Or half that speed? Or even a quarter or an eighth?

I think it's the wifi chip inside the apple phone. I got maxed out at around the same number for iPhone11 on 160Mhz channel width of a GRAX66 router. While using the same router with a pixel 6a I got 1Gbps easily.

Dude 650mbps is plenty fast on a phone.

I have a small 3-D printer farm. Three Bambu. Bambu runs all their stuff through clouds and people don't like that. For business hygiene reasons I want to keep my design efforts secure from the start. I'd like it to be on its own separate when network and yet be able to be on the Internet to get updates when it's safe.

Also, I'm inclined to have my security cam network on a separate network then other things . I'm not even sure why I want that. I'm too tired right now to tell you. Maybe it's because I haven't set up routers in a sophisticated way for a couple decades and I want to figure out some things.
I created a pfSense router from an old Dell 7010 I had laying around and then attached it to a managed switch so I could create VLAN for each environment. Then used several old routers as access points that each have unique IP range and SSID. This is done with VLANs on pfSense and then allows firewall rules as needed for your specific environment (i.e. vlan99 can access internet but no access to any other VLAN). I have one access point for IOT devices, one for PC's, one for developement environment, one for guests, one for security devices. All share one WAN connection. Works really well for me. Bought a few of these LN1301 to replace an older access point and to test if I could have a mesh network as one of the access points. And to also fool around with OPENWRT when I have the time.

Set mine up last night from woot deal. Already bought 2 more.

Significant upgrade from the APs I was using that ranged from 7-10 years old. Haven't tried VR streaming yet using Oculus Link, but am optimistic based on the speeds I'm seeing…

Only downside was a ~4h config process due to my own inexperience. What I learned means the other APs will be set up in minutes…

For those who haven't done this in years and were used to manually setting a static IP and disabling DHCP to get into an effective "access point" mode…

I didn't realize there was a formal "bridge mode" that's the same as AP mode…

Then I didn't realize you cannot set a static IP in bridge mode. Thought it mattered and fought that for a while…

Then I didn't realize you don't really need a static IP as you can simply go to https://hostname.local. I had no idea about the .local going at the end of the hostname.

Result is my signal used to only be usable about 20' into my back yard and now it is about 50' out.

so, for the 2 I ordered, I'll want to install wrt?
I'm just using as APs in "bridge mode" and see no reason to install either of the open source variants.

Looking to replace a Netgear Nighthawk AC2100 to something that's wifi 6. I assume this would be an upgrade for me? My current Netgear is on my desk in my basement and we get great wifi coverage on the main floor above and on the second story as well (live in a colonial). My kid games on their Xbox X in their second floor bedroom via wifi with no complaints at all. Is there a way I can use two of these Linksys routers together somehow? Run one in my basement like I do now and set another one up in the second story kid's bedroom somehow?

You can use the two Linksys together in a mesh setup. If you don't have Ethernet wired in your home then you can set them up as a wireless mesh. I'm assuming your internet gateway is in your basement? Then you'll need to setup the parent node there. You can either place the wireless child node on the main floor or the second story. You'll have to experiment to see which works best. If your home is wired for Ethernet then you have some more options including using your existing Netgear along with the Linksys.

If you need a static IP in bridge mode/AP mode, you need to first set the static IP, then set into bridge mode. Even so, it will show that it is in DHCP mode, but that is not functional. Once set, you cannot change the IP unless you disable bridge mode. The easier way is to set as DHCP to get the address from the router, then access it as you stated, then change to bridge mode. It also took me some time and help from this forum.

been running a few days and has been rock solid.
