Been using clay 20+ years. The pad is interesting. I keep it overly wet just to be safe, and I'm always rubbing it to see if some abrasives are kept there. But not bad! Very fast and efficient for large surfaces and gets the bulk of the job done. Not good for deep down embedded stuff or tight areas.
I use both this and a little clay for quick jobs, but still full clay for thorough jobs.

I have never seen a product like this. Ideally, after you clay you would want to do some level of paint correction as claying is a mild abrasive and if you are going to clay it has probably been a while since you have corrected. So for best results, I would stick to the traditional clay, paint correction and then seal the surface.

Yes. But there's a limit to how many uses.

I never really trust detail spray only for claying. Usually I wash my car, rinse it and use the same soap and water with detail spray to clay one panel at a time then dry that panel and follow with a nice sealant.

i like this speed clay on quick clay jobs on cars that are not that dirty. It really does not work good on gunked up cars tho. (break out the good ol clay)

pretty good price as the speedclay itself is $17

I use whatever I have laying around. Detailer spray or car soap. Main thing is the surface has got to be clean first (washed and dried with a towel) and slick enough to glide not stick.

The speed clay is great for general use, but I do note traditional clay still has a couple benefits.

First, I notice less marring with traditional clay. This is a small issue if you plan on paint correcting. The marring is light and will come out with a finishing polish.

Second, traditional clay can get into tight spots (ex under the mirror) due to its shapability.

Third,it's harder to get a "feel" for the surface as you're claying.

With this said, these are all minor issues and speed clay is a great tool to add to your collection. I keep an extra one solely for glass decontamination.

Was just checking this product out, maybe an sd'er can help me. I've got an old white vehicle from 2000. It's getting black buildup just from sitting. I tried a good clean and wax but still happening. Some of these comments mention a clay followed by a seal. What does that mean? Would that be my solution or another idea?

You would polish after claying followed by panel prep if going to do a proper ceramic coat. If not doing proper ceramic coat, then ceramic sealant/ wax after polish is fine. You can also not polish after claying. Clay towels can be used anytime without polishing if you just want an extra clean car, but it's just too time-consuming for maintenance washes.
