Do you usually wear clown shoes? Moabs have the biggest toe box I have ever had in a shoe

MOABs have some of the smallest toeboxes I have come across. Wish Merrell would fix that.

As someone who used to love Keens for their wider than average toe box, I have to disagree. Moabs aren't as wide in the toe as some Keens I've tried, but they're at least average, which is part of the reason I keep buying them for work. Certainly much wider than something like the adidas AX2 or Swift R. I like a little room to move my toes, and I love Moab 2's and 3's.

Do you find them true to size or would you go up/down a .5-1 size?

As best I can tell, the base Moab 3 is the nearest replacement for the previous Moab 2 Vent. Sounds like the base model Moab 3 is ventilated.

Does this match others' understanding and experience?

If so this is useful info for people. I had several pairs of Moab 2 Vents and loved them. I would definitely go for the low ones though, not mids, for everyday use.

This does not match my experience. Have had several pairs of Merrell Moabs and always found the toebox fine. Considerably better than many other shoes and sneakers, in fact.

Maybe you inadvertently got too small of a size or a narrow model? Not sure how the difference would come up.

I miss the Moab 2. It may be the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. The Moab 3 just isn't the same.

Bummer the black color isn't on sale. I love my old Merrel's for everyday wear, but the brown and beige colors scream "I'm going on a hike" a bit too much.

Name is the only thing left from Merrell. I bought a Moab Merrell to have them just in case. I used them 2-3 weeks, I only walk with them and they are totally garbage. Unfortunately I wasn't so smart to complain within 1 year.

This is a good deal but these are quite heavy with a weight of 12.55oz each and a drop of 11.5mm (size 10.5/Wide).

As someone who likes to jog on trails, I need something a lot lighter.
