I need to replace my mom's Xfinity combo to end the rental. Any suggestions for a combo? Why are modems never sd's? She still needs the telephone jack for her pacemaker. Thanks, appreciated.
Depending on what service your mom has she should be able to request a plain old cable modem from her ISP. Make sure to verify its just the cable modem and not some crappy combo unit the customer rep will "mistakenly" send you (ask how I know).
You could then pair it with a Router that you buy. And not be tied to a literal piece of garbage combo unit ISPs hand out like candy.
Nice. Just repurchased since Amazon would rather pay to have returns shipped back to them rather than do price adjustments anymore.
This always boggles my mind. They hope you won't bother with the return - but you end up getting it cheaper and they pay for the return shipping, and the new shipping on top of the discount.
Anyone has experience of comparing this Asus with the Eero 6e Pro router? I have AC68u and still using it. I also have a Ring Alarm pro with Eero6 router built-in and it is very easy to add devices into the network. Thanks

She has Comcast/Xfinity as ISP. And it's the modem needed for telephony, correct?
what benefits does this offer over the $20 linksys wifi 6 router that is on fp right now?
Mostly advanced features that don't require subscription or that I call ASUS the anti-Eero/Amazon: VPN router (OpenVPN and Wireguard iirc, and if you pay for a VPN service you can set it at the router level instead of per device), DDNS in-house (No-IP forces us to manually renew via email), Virus Protection (via TrendMicro's filters), Parental Controls, Mesh scalability (use older ASUS routers as mesh nodes), AiDisk (remote access hard drive via USB) off the top of my head.
ASUS supported the very popular AC68U (My fellow T-Mobile router SDers know all about this) for like 10+ years until EOL very recently this summer. I bought ASUS ax92u in 2021 on this belief that they would support their hardware similarly but that was EOL before the AC68U in 2023 so that was disappointing. Nonetheless, I will always recommend ASUS routers compared to others for their upfront features. I'm still rocking my AC68U as my main, using eero 6e as an access point.
In4two. The 2.4Ghz has been acting real wonky on my TP link, going to continue trouble shooting it but bought 2 of these just in case. I suspect I fried a chip by overloading it so with 2 I'll just separate more of the load. Just thinking out loud here.

I'm going to make alot of assumptions based upon the last sentence of "She still needs the telephone jack..." so if I'm wrong feel free to ignore.
I'm assuming this means you have a telephone cable modem combo unit. I can't speak to Xfinity but with spectrum the "rental" was on the cable modem and the telephone was free. We know this because way back when my parents got telephone through spectrum the cable tech removed my parents modem and installed a combo unit and then they charged us for the rental. We called and asked why we were being charged. They said we could hook up our modem for internet and the new modem for the telephone only and there would be no rental fee. Might be worth checking or as someone pointed out getting an all in one.
I need to replace my GT-AC2900 which keeps dropping the 2.4GHz frequency constantly where I have to have it auto-reboot every 2 days. Reviews show lots of people having the same issue... curious if this router is the same.

Asus firmware is good, but Merlin is fan-freaking-tastic. It's like the Shelby version of a Mustang.
