I am still under a gig internet, but have an old belkin router that is probably quite a security risk by now. I game sometimes and like to be able to turn my wi-fi power off and/or lower it to a minimum as I have everything hardwired.
160mhz is overblown. You do not want your PC, Apple TV or current gen consoles on wireless anyways. Phones, smart devices, and laptops do not really push the speed to require 160mhz.
While the $20 ln1301s are available anything else is a waste. Use ln1301s for two or three years, maybe more. Then come into consumer grade wifi7 at under $100
I have ipad air (m1) and I can not get more than 500mbps 10 ft from node on 160mhz band. 80mhz I am still going over 400mbps

Received this AX4200 and it's bigger than the AC68U for sure. Longer and one more antenna, but while color is nice (yellow/gold) the AC86U seems to have slightly better build outside. It has been awhile since I setup Aimesh and forgot to set the AX4200 as router first to update its firmware. Then I forgot it needs to be near the Aimesh router for connection. Finally, the trick was to connect them via wire or else setup kept failing. Once I remembered that's what I did back when, the process went smooth. After it's all set, I moved the AX4200 back upstairs and now I have WiFi6. Speed is consistent around 500-600mbps, given my builder messed up the wire in wall, so wasn't able to achieve higher speed. Still, it's plenty fast enough and most important is the constant buffering/loss connection (waifu complained while using tablet) before. Overall, I am happy with the upgrade. Note: No RGB as a gaming router, just in case someone wonders.
How's this compared to the gl.inet Flint 2 that is going for ~$130 now? It's got 2x 2.5gbps ethernet ports... how's the processing power of this compare to that?

I can get over 600Mbps on my iPhone11 and over 1Gbps on my pixel 6a both at 35ft away. Right now, I'm stuck at around 1300Mbps with WiFi6. You're just terrible at setting up your WiFi network brah.

If you set it up correctly 160mhz will give you this. That is from 35ft away, clear LOS.

I tried that router. It's a good router. I returned back to Amazon because I didn't have a need for it. I'd prefer to have my Debian box running the firewall and behave as my edge router.

Curious if you can comment more on the Flint 2 router? How was the range on it? How would you compare it to the Linksys LN1301? I assume it's better but is that much better?

I would say that router is very good. I would put it neck to neck with the ax88u pro, probably a bit slower and worst bufferbloat issues, but it is definitely much faster than the rt-axe7800. I had extremely poor experience with rt-axe7800. Also tried other linksys and netgear tp-link in the same price range and features and I would pick that mt6000 any day of the week. The range on that router if I remember was very good. I should have kept track of these things in a spreadsheet to share but was too lazy.
Tbh, for wifi6/6e routers, if you want the best you gotta go with ax88u pro and my 2nd choice would be the mt6000. Now if you're a bit budget consious you can pick up the GRAX66 for as low as $70 on amazon used that will give you the range and speed of ax88u pro but only on 1 specific band 5ghz upper.
Here's a motivation for y'all to move on to multi-gigabit networking infrastructure. I love the Linksys LN1301 and I have it in my network (only 1 though, because basically it is an AC router, keyword basically, but it is a very very good AC router, better than RT-AC68u).

Basically I'm trying to figure out if it's worth me upgrading from my Netgear Nighthawk AC2100 which (knock on wood) has been rock solid for the 5+ years I've been running it.

Most likely the SD effect and Amazon can't keep up. Often though, it would ship out sooner than the predicted day range. Have bought things under similar situation previously and they all got shipped earlier than expected, unless shipped by 3rd party sellers (e.g Ecoflow).

Upgrade only if your connection to the ISP is over 800Mbps. That would be my advice. My current connection is 2Gbps. I don't really have a choice but to upgrade my infrastructure. Even after upgrade, my wifi is stuck at 1300Mbps. However, on wired ethernet, I can get 2Gbps on downloads, so I still get what I paid for at least.
I have a 1.2Gbps Xfinity connection so about 1.4Gbps with the overage they allow for. I can only get around 940Mbps hard wired into my router as my other equipment (cable modem, router and PC top out at 1Gbps). I'm fine with the 940ish I'm getting and the wifi speed is pretty good all over my house with my current connection. Maybe I'll wait until I can get a 2Gbps connection from Xfinity to upgrade. I guess at this point it probably doesn't make sense to spend all the cash to upgrade everything I would have to for minimal benefit.
Do you happen to know what utility this person is using in the Amazon review for the Flint 2 (MT6000). If you sort the reviews by most recent. it's by the user SB - should be the 3rd review down when sorted my most recent.
