Nope - nothing - nothing justifies a set of 500 buck routers - I can get enterprise grade access points for 125 bucks each and will give me way better coverage and reliability. I can get really decent routers for 20 bucks (linksys LN1301 routers) a piece - get 3 for 60 bucks and configure them as a mesh.
A few things. Linksys is a trash router brand and has been for probably 2 decades now. Look at their firmware update history for their products. You're lucky if you get 1-2 years of firmware updates. Their routers crash, need to be reset, etc. That Linksys router is a wifi 6 router. This ASUS is a wifi 6E router. This is Asus, top of the line consumer brand. I have a consumer router from them they've been patching security flaws for at least 5 years. No one does that today. Most consumer routers are riddled with security flaws.

Verizon Fios customers get a free Wifi 6 router from Verizon (no rental cost). It looks identical to the Linksys LN1301. It might actually be that router. All I know is whatever it is, it's terrible. Out of curiosity, I used it instead of my Asus router to test it out (this was a couple years ago). My internet speed was horrible. It was instantly noticeable, but then confirmed doing internet speed tests. I went through so many settings. Nothing seemed to fix how bad that router was. It just sits around collecting dust today.

You have to pay for quality and security. I won't buy this because Wifi 7 is here. Cellphones are already adding it. I'll wait for deals on that.

Access Point: https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-8...0CC7X8XFD/

I use a ASUS router - but 500 bucks is way too much for a router.. no matter what. On linksys, it has 2G ram, will run openwrt, etc if linksys support is a concern.

LN1301 doesn't have 6 Ghz, doesn't have 2.5G ports, doesn't have link aggregation, can't do 160 MHz channels. It's not on the same planet as this setup, whether you want these features or not.
On a side note, I can't find a Linksys router with 2.5G LAN at all.

For a level headed review of this product and a sensible evaluation of whether or not this kit is actually worth buying, take a look at this article: https://dongknows.com/asus-zenwif...12-review/
While this setup can do purely wireless meshing, it's really not an optimal choice.

This only has one 2.5G port so it can't do 2.5G routing or 2.5G wired backhaul.

So it might have its place - maybe (?)... but for 99.9% of the folks, this is pure splurge.. it is like saying, I have a highway with potholes but I need a ferrari because it has a bigger engine... the ferrari has its place... but not for most folks who just need to get to point A from point B.

no clue what you're on about..and I got no clue if these actually perform as well as the price..
but if they do perform better than 400$ for a 3 pack then it's not that bad of a price

What are you talking about? Of course I'm getting 2.5G WIRED. From router over ethernet cable to my computer, its guaranteed 2.5G. That is the whole point of having 2.5G ethernet local networking. Over wifi? Probably not as fast but I'm talking about wired ethernet here, not wireless.
