If I had to guess… it's because there seems to be a war going on with all of the PC deals where intel fans are tired of hearing about the 13/14 gen cpu problems and all talk about how slow AMD is.

This is a pretty slow CPU, about as fast as 5600. But if all you are going to do is light gaming with the iGPU.

Seems to be around 50-100% faster igpu than the 5600g so it's a pretty awesome piece of equipment for a light gaming rig

I'm pretty impressed with my 5600g and I still have some 3400g's that have done okay for years. For this price I might drop one in.

*didn't realize this is an AM5 socketed chip and thusly could not drop in to my AM4 boards.

That's a meaty price cut. If the 800-series boards cut the prices of the 600-series a decent amount next month, you could have yourself a solid budget build.
