I find this to be a great buy, but google says it can be had on ebay for $350 from semi reputable merchants, so the fact this is legit Ashford for $299 does makes this a compelling buy to me....
Comes with two straps - both are hideous.
Would recommend an immediate replacement with a 22mm quick release rally leather strap from anywhere.
Key notes: Swiss history brand, rock solid ETA movement, sapphire crystal, color matched window, dial size is ok but at 42mm for a "dress" watch, I'm of the opinion with a substantial watch face and black coating this will wear LARGE.
The orange on black dial looks awesome to me.
Edited to remove L2L as I do not know it.

I am not going to debate japanese movement versus swiss movement, so if that's your thing, you do you. I have no issues with that, but just trying to level the playing field.
I have a 14 year old Mido Multifort, reference 8810, with the Valjoux 7750 movement. It has been such a great watch, especially for the price. Both Mido and Hamilton are great value propositions in the Swiss automatic world imho.
The Swatch Group is the largest watch company in the world and employs about 31,000 people in 50 countries. The group owns the Swatch product line and other luxury brands, including Blancpain, Breguet, Certina, ETA, Glashütte Original, Hamilton, Harry Winston, Longines, Mido, Omega, Rado, and Tissot.
Wow I thought I was going prove you wrong. I thought Hamilton was the only one that was still American. Was wrong. Thanks for the post.

Lots of their watches are at that retail price point.
I think they use Powermatic on Ocean Star but pretty sure Multifort uses Caliber 80. I would put Caliber 80 a tad above Powermatic 80, especially because it's made specifically for Mido
