Not sure what that means exactly but for a 12 year old kid it probably doesn't matter much Smilie

I would definitely say yes. If your kids don't take bball seriously, the And1 balls are fine but they are all rubber so the bounce and feel will be off. This ball seems like a good transition ball for kids that will eventually get more serious about bball. Even though this is an inddor/outdoor ball, outdoor use will definitely wear out the outer layer causing it to lose grip. If you play indoor and out, I recommend having a seperate balloon each.

The and1 ball is awful, not even worth $1. So anything would be better.

if you can find for $50 (i just got via ebay), i'd highly recommend the Wilson Wave basketballs that have extra 'grooves' for outdoors. Outdoor balls for me get so dirty/dusty quickly that its hard to handle unless get a specialized ball like them. But yeh, cost 5x more than this hehe.

Seems like the Wilson is a better deal.

I work at a school for kids with behavior issues and disabilities. Every couple of years when I see a good deal on basketballs like this, I go out and buy up to a dozen balls for the school, since most of the balls are worn out.

Unfortunately, I drove to 3 different Wal-Marts, and at all 3 of them, the 29.5" Spalding Grip Control TF basketballs were ringing up full price, with no discount.
