I have this and I like it. I'm not a gym buff but it helps me get in a quick workout in my garage. I think I paid $500 too.

Especially when it is a 2:1 ratio, so is effectively only 80 lbs.

Can someone explain what the subscription is used for?
The subscription was helpful for some ideas about what exercises to do... I used it for the first few weeks but haven't opened it up since then

Can you share your experience? Do you think this would be a great standalone gym intro setup or lacking in some areas? Thinking of getting it as I currently only have dumbells and a bench

Is there any reason why I couldn't just strap some additional plates onto it?

Just wrapped a lot of research on at-home machines, which mostly focused on the more "digital" versions (think Tonal, Oxefit XS1, Speediance, Vitruvian, etc.) and I wish I would have seen this at this price point to wrap in a comparison of. By price alone, it's pretty stellar, especially as someone with one of those dumbbell sets on a stand that probably costs just as much as this entire thing.

I'm not "gym savvy" and one of my least favorite things about the gym is figuring out the equipment, or worrying that someone's going to make me their next TikTok video because I used something incorrectly, so I opted for the at-home version, and I'm loving it.

That said: some of the overly-instructed videos that I checked on Centr can get to be tedious in that you have to move at their pace and you can get out in front or fall behind, and that can be maddening. I kind of prefer the AI voice over on the simple and repeating videos of my system that show me how to do the maneuver and let me keep going at my own pace. Digital versions will also help you with weight selection and adjustment, which is great for me because I'm not sure I'd be smart enough to nudge myself to a new weight in the right timely fashion for me to get the most out of it.

That leads me to my hot take that this looks pretty decent and solid and at a fantastic price point. I love what I have and it meets my needs and this looks pretty great. Cable systems are replaceable, and those parts look like they could be modded/upgraded, as well.

This vs a used Tonal on Facebook Marketplace?

No subscription needed for this but not as sleek looking.
Where in the country are you finding a used Tonal for anywhere near this price??

I have it. It isn't really a 2:1 ratio. It's 2:1 per arm. So if you have a workout you are doing with both sides it's 1:1. If you are just using 1 arm yes it is indeed 2:1. So 80 pounds max for tricep pushdown for example. Unless you can rig up some type of system to use both arms which I haven't bothered. But a chest fly, you can do 160 lbs 1:1. Or a seated row.

Would it be better if it was not 2:1 and expandable, yes it really would. But I got it for a similar price ($400). Hard to beat at that price. Hell the bench alone of similar quality is $150 on amazon if not more. And if you need more weight, then you aren't looking at this anyway. This will work for most people.

The one thing that would have made this unbeatable is if the arms were able to be rotated horizontally which they are not. So the angle the arms come out of the machine is fixed, keep that in mind.

How does this get delivered? Is it in multiple boxes that require any assembly?

Used Tonal are $1.5k on Facebook marketplace in rural TX. Always offer less and see if they'll take it.

Used Tempo are ~$400.

If you're looking at this or a cage and can only choose one, I'd recommend a cage. You can do more with it. I have space for both and think this to be a great asset

They sell cages with crossover cable pulleys integrated into the front pillars of the cage, I'd recommend such a cage or cage with a single high/low pulley in the back over a device like this.

"Equipped with a 160 lb. weight stack"

Seems like good price but this will quickly be the limiting part for some exercises unless there is an option to add more weight in the future.
Learn to utilize leverage to work against you and it's plenty for most. Sure people like to lift heavy weights but it's not the smartest idea considering it increases the risk for injury.

I don't have time to drive to the gym let alone to catch everyone else's covid or whatever else is going around.
In such a short sentence you have a bunch of impractical arguments on why you aren't working out, I don't think this or the gym is for you.

These types of cages can be multifaceted, but I find the loading the Olympics plates on and off to be more tedious than sticking in a pin at the desired wait like for the cable machine. It's easier to incorporate the cable machine into a timely workout IMO
