Great headphones. I tried several brands and found these to be the best in the $400 new price range. $220-225 is the normal refurbished price. This is a good deal, and the cheapest I've seen the refurbs go, but they've been at this price several times the last 6 months.

Thank you, snagged the white one. The page has a coupon for another $20 so seems like a solid deal considering the (inflated) msrp
Hasn't the MSRP always been $399, or am I mistaken? Best Buy also lists the MSRP as $399.

Bought these for $400 when they first came out and ended up returning them. Sonys sound profile just isn't for me. They focus so much on clarity and crispness that music sounds "synthetic" to me if that makes sense. The bass sounds like it's coming from a far off distance. Nothing like how it would sound live.

However, the comfort and noise cancellation are top notch. I might not have returned them at this price.
You can change the sound profile on all of the XM headphones I believe. What you are expressing is a common problem. There are videos on youtube on how to do it and also forums.

Either search google for "Changing the sound profile on Sony XM*" or maximizing audio quality on Sony XM* or check out specific in depth reviews on the model.

It's more like the headphones are frequently $300 or less, whenever I see any items constantly on large sales the MSRP doesn't hold much sway with me. It's like Samsung phones that MSRP for 2k or whatever and next month is $700 off.

The MSRP is over-inflated for almost everything sold, pretty much a worthless number any more.

Any reason to not buy from their website for similar price but for new condition, other than color availability?

https://secondipity.com/products/...ones-black
Secondipity is known to be somewhat lax with their definition of new or open box. Their "refurbished" units are as far as I understand usually mostly the same (still excellent usually) condition. The major benefit of eBay (vs their direct site) is that you get 2 year of Allstate warranty which is generally considered very good.

For people who like chasing deals for sure. I got a reputation among friends and family to be able to find amazing deals. It is stunning how many times I get people saying I snagged such a great deal it was 20% off MSRP (and about 30% over what it should cost). I usually don't have the heart to tell them. So in my experience MSRP is a marketing gimmick that actually works reasonably well with large chunk of the population.

I have these headphones, they are solid and the audio quality is good, but I find a lot about them quite annoying. you have to use the app to turn them off and power them down when you are done using them if you don't the battery drains, the audio quality is shotty when you use the audio jack cable. and you can only pair them so many times. I think its two then you have to repair later if you want to use them on a separate device later.

Be careful with what Secondipity describes as new. I purchased this headphone listed as new during the labor day sale. Unfortunately it turned out to be a demo model with a big sticker "Not for Sale" plastered. I am now returning it back for a refund.

I bought these in February for the same price. Eventually they broke and the headband disconnected from the can. Contacted Sony and they said i was SOL. Just saw this and see that there is a 2 yr warranty. I just contacted them for replacement....will let everyone know what happens. I also bought another pair. one for home and one for the office. they do sound very good, noise cancelling is top notch, my wife gets so mad that i dont hear her when im wearing these.

What do you mean? You can't just press the power button to turn it off? I sure can with mine.
