Reviews seem to indicate it's OK for a low cost, starter detector. At $41, I personally never knew I needed one of these. Thanks OP.

It's cheaper on Amazon. Regularly only $33.

These cheap detectors will help you find metal pipes, wires, lost rings, ring pulls, nails, pennies, etc.. on or near the surface. What you don't get is being able to find stuff buried deeper or discriminate accurately between different types of metal, so you're forced to dig everything up to see what it is. However, they have their uses and they can be fun to use. Note that they're a bit like drones in that they aren't allowed many places, like public parks. They don't want people digging holes everywhere.

Well then you need a metal detector detector, not just a metal detector. Duh!

I'm done with Walmart. This detector was in my local Walmart, I used the app to scan it came up $32.93, went to checkout and it rang up full price. Of course bricks don't honor app/com prices.

same thing happened to me on a tent few weeks back. Didn't have time to wait before a camping trip. Store rang up higher price than online/app. So bought it in store, then ordered the same online. Returned the online order to the local Walmart for the higher refund.

I'm tired of messing with Walmart

I've used these detectors and they're ok...I think the low price is worth it.....they will certianly find metal...I found them to be less consistent than more expensive detectors. For most people that want a decent detector I'll recommend the Minelab Vanquish 340... $175 on sale. I prefer the 540 just for wireless headphones and purchased it new for $330. They are decent starter detectors, but you may never have to upgrade. The Vanquish will work around salt water where the Bounty Hunter will not .
Ofcourse there are far more expensive detectors too.

This.

Iron discrimination is probably the most important feature when looking for relics.

I have a Minelab Equinox and a Garrett AT Pro. I don't have any experience with the one posted here, but I bought my nephew a Sun Joe 24V-MDTCR1-LTW (currently unavailable on Amazon) in 2022 on sale for $45, thanks to a slickdeals post. I'm amazed at how well it works for the price paid. At the time there were a couple VERY similar 'no name' detectors on the market that probably work just as well.

Also, for those just starting the hobby, PLEASE look up federal, state, and local metal detecting laws for government owned property. And get permission from the landowners of private properties!
