So 4 lines Go5G next is $225/month - $164 credit = $61/month for 4 lines?

You'll get one time credit for trading your previous iphone.
That is upto $1000 depends on models and condition
Iphon 16 pro 128gb cost is $999.99
This is why T-mobile says "it on us"

On the other hand, Go 5G next plan is separate thing.

Hi guys,
Regarding "Bill credits end if you pay off device early" in the T&C, if I pay off and upgrade now, my bill credits will still be good since this condition doesn't exist in the old upgrade offer when I bought the phone last year. Am I correct?

Never heard of go5G next plan. I have a grandfathered Simple Choice plan with military discount. Paying $150 for 7 lines.

Probably not worth it at all to change plans to save $1300 and be funneled into the higher price plan right?

Useless for international travel? Big Grin T-mobile has free data all over the world. Don't your friends have facetime?
Their international service sucks. Sure, they give you "unlimited data and texting" but the speeds are downright unusable for trying to use Google maps or internet browsing.

I always buy an eSIM card and use that instead.

Simple choice plan here. Pretty much excluded from all offers. I have managed to get some good deals via Tmo/Best Buy which is no longer an option now. We are better off buying unlocked phones. I've seen folks able to cancel apple care after costco purchase.
Essentially, just trade in or re-sell the older phone and buy an unlocked one - depends on you retailer choice - Apple or Best Buy, and which one gives more for a trade in. It may net you around $500 but still better than losing a grandfathered plan. If I'm forced out of the plan though, then I will switch a career AND get a free phone Smilie

Maybe consider downloading offline maps and take a break from doomscrolling for a bit? Free international data is why I keep t-mobile.

Just remember, you no longer get upfront credit and more importantly, if you pay off your phone early, you forfeit the remaining of the credit.
Can you eli5? I keep reading that but I don't really understand why this is bad?

Other here (and myself, honestly) are salty about the T-Mobile policy change because it means you cant

1. Get the device on a payment plan and get the monthly credits
2. Pay off and unlock the device immediately
3. Sell the now paid off device while its still new and full price
4. Continue to receive the monthly bill credits, effectively getting discounted service

If you are someone who is just looking to get a device at reduced cost, and who probably wont travel outside the USA anytime soon (so like, most people), then the policy change doesnt effect you.

Its just annoying because its clearly a move to make it more difficult to change carriers, and removes a lot of flexibility for folks who like to just own their device.

So... eh. Im too old and jaded to get angry about this stuff anymore. Business gonna business.

On a related note, wow TMobiles payment processing system is fed in the a this morning. So glad I woke my ass up at 5am to try and give them my money. Guess I have to try in person later today.

The experience with modern tech is so magical!

The promo for 'iPhone 16–Get 4 ON US. Plus, 4 new lines for $25/line.' seems like an awesome deal if you don't mind staying with them for 2 years. My family have 4 x iphone 12's we'd trade in and our 4 x US mobile lines are valid for port in on this deal. I'd do this at Costco to avoid activation fee so that saves $140. Then basically we'd pay $100 plus tax for monthly service I believe.

Haven't done a Tmobile phone deal in years so can someone tell this newbie why it's not a good deal?

This is they way. If your phone plan price aren't that great anyways may as well have a spouse open a new 4 line $100 plan to get the iPhone on Us deal. Port out your old phone number and port back into the new line that your spouse just created. Do that same thing 2 years later.
Play the carrier's game. Take advantage of the promotions that are available.

Just a data point for those with the Magenta Max plan with the active "Yearly Upgrade" promotion. I originally signed up for the "forever upgrade" promotion in 2021 which allowed for a free upgrade with trade-in every two years. Around a year ago, T-mobile ended the forever upgrade promo and switched this promotion to the "Yearly Upgrade" promotion while allowing me to stay on the Magenta Max plan at no extra cost. When i attempted to order the iphone 16 this morning, the website was not fully honoring the promotion. The $1000 discount with trade was showing, but the remaining balance on my iphone 15 was not being removed and they wanted immediate payment on that when i was checking out. Spent an hour on the phone and an hour on chat (in the app), reading through the "forever Upgrade" policy on the T-mobile website (linked below) with their reps trying to get this resolved with no success. They wanted me to upgrade to the Go5G Next plan for $10 more per month. Their policy explicitly states I do not have to change my service plan. I decided that i would just have to go in-store to get it resolved and planned to go later today. However, i kept checking the website and eventually got the correct amount shown to me at check out. I guess it took some intervention on T-mobile's part to fix the issue on the website. Full $1000 for trading in my iphone 15 pro max and the remaining balance was also taken care of. Just had to pay taxes for the new phone. Keep in mind, not everyone on the Magenta Max plan will receive the "yearly upgrade" it's only offered to those who were grandfathered in from the "forever upgrade" promotion, and this will be clearly shown under the "Add ons" tab on your account. Hope this can clear up some confusion. I wasnt able to find much info on this on the interwebs. https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...er-upgrade

Order directly from apples on go5g plus. They dont even require any imei from the phone you are trading. I like ordering from apple instead of tmobile since the phone will come unlocked
