Think I had one of these as a teenager. I believe I had another one shaped like a Scottish claymore, too. Neither were very good at their job, though this was the better of the two, IIRC.

If you're actually in need of a letter opener, a more generic envelope slitter [amazon.com] doesn't look as fun but actually does the thing it's supposed to do.
