Pros:
- under $1K
- Really nice screen at QHD and 300 nits.
- Excellent CPU for gaming. AMD has a newer generation out, but this CPU is still more than what you will need for gaming and handles CPU intensive apps well.
- RTX 4070 with 8GB VRAM means quality settings at 1440 gaming. GPU TDP is limited to 105Watts, but most laptop GPUs only really scale up to 115 Watts anyways, so only a minor gimping.
- 1TB SSD
- upgradeable RAM (16GB is fine for windows/productivity/gaming) but for video editing, LLMs or other memory intensive uses, you will want to upgrade to more. Thankfully this RAM is upgradeable.
Cons:
- Microcenter, so YMMV.
- Not the latest generation CPU means less fancy AI cores and higher power usage, but still excellent performance.
- Slightly gimped GPU limited to 105W TDP. Still plays most modern games on high with DLSS.
- Only comes with 16GB RAM, but you can upgrade in the future if you need it.
- Small battery. 3-cell 53.5Wh combined with this CPU and GPU will not last you all day. This laptop will want to be plugged in most of the time.

105W is plenty for the 4070. There isn't much if any performance after 100W for 4070 and below. Personally I'd want to limit power more for these mobile parts, since their lifespan decreases with heat generation and cycling in such a small cooling envelope.
