Some Ultra 2s do have the sensor. For instance you can still get them new from Costco with the sensor for $100 more - https://www.costco.com/apple-watc...18736.html. If the MPN ends in LL/A it has it enabled, LW/A it doesnt.
Personally I just went the used route. Found one with the sensor and 100% battery in good condition and saved a couple hundred bucks
I have the Ultra 1 and absolutely love it, and I don't see a need to upgrade to a Ultra 2 or the new black one and I want to upgrade but there hasn't been much improvement or new features to justify the cost difference of a Ultra 1 vs Ultra 2 IMO. You are likely to get better deals especially if you are willing to go refurbished/renewed or used. (Ultra 1 Renewed is $499 on Amazon right now)
The main new features you get with Ultra 2 are:
Double tap gesture support
On-device Siri with health access
Precision finding for iPhone
Hardware differences on the Ultra 2 vs. 1
1000 extra nits brightness on the Ultra 2
S9 Chip (vs S8 on Ultra 1)
64gb storage (vs 32gb on Ultra 1)
Gen 2 Ultra Wide-band chip (gen 1 on Ultra 1)
72 hours of battery life in low power mode (vs 60 on Ultra 1)
Ultra 1 would have Blood Oxygen if made and not refurbished before 2024 (from my understanding)
Not a noticeable difference in any way to 99% of users.

Picked one up! I was waiting to see what was going to happen with the Ultra 3 before replacing my series 8. Prefer the natural titanium and definitely prefer saving $110 over the prices next week.
Is there any difference between natural titanium and rugged titanium?
There is no rugged titanium, they are releasing the same watch in black coating next week. I also picked this up since I had a bunch of Best Buy points and they price matched. I'll just buy the new titanium loop band they are releasing separately.
Nice price but, still doesn't beat the CDW deal back in the spring that came with blood oxygen sensor. I have the natural titanium, coming from always having a space gray or black Apple Watch I really like the natural titanium color better.

I expect it to go lower by another 50 in November
