Some Ultra 2s do have the sensor. For instance you can still get them new from Costco with the sensor for $100 more - https://www.costco.com/apple-watc...18736.html. If the MPN ends in LL/A it has it enabled, LW/A it doesnt.
Personally I just went the used route. Found one with the sensor and 100% battery in good condition and saved a couple hundred bucks
I have the Ultra 1 and absolutely love it, and I don't see a need to upgrade to a Ultra 2 or the new black one and I want to upgrade but there hasn't been much improvement or new features to justify the cost difference of a Ultra 1 vs Ultra 2 IMO. You are likely to get better deals especially if you are willing to go refurbished/renewed or used. (Ultra 1 Renewed is $499 on Amazon right now)
The main new features you get with Ultra 2 are:
Double tap gesture support
On-device Siri with health access
Precision finding for iPhone
Hardware differences on the Ultra 2 vs. 1
1000 extra nits brightness on the Ultra 2
S9 Chip (vs S8 on Ultra 1)
64gb storage (vs 32gb on Ultra 1)
Gen 2 Ultra Wide-band chip (gen 1 on Ultra 1)
72 hours of battery life in low power mode (vs 60 on Ultra 1)
Ultra 1 would have Blood Oxygen if made and not refurbished before 2024 (from my understanding)
Not a noticeable difference in any way to 99% of users.
Price matched at Best Buy and got $330 for my 9 45mm. I used that watch for free for the year. I need the more rugged watch and the battery life is a good upgrade.

Did you go in store, or were you able to do the price match and trade-in online?
If you're a healthy person, you don't need a blood oxygen sensor. It's always roughly the same and what are you going to do with the information? Go get an oxygen bottle if it's a little low?

Premium renewed premium Ultra 1 at $499 is an incredible deal if you want to save the $190 price difference. Also, with both Ultra 2 and Ultra 1 being shipped and sold by Amazon it is eligible for Prime Card's 5% back to sweeten the deal even more.
Opting for the renewed premium, at the $499 slightly higher price (regular renewed were $30 less when I looked), gives you the flexibility to change your mind anytime in the next year and grab the Ultra 2 because premium renewed comes with a 365 day free return period.

Did you price match to the new Ultra 2 (currently $749) or old Ultra 2 (currently $799)? When I try to trade in a Series 9 for the older version the trade in amount shows $300 instead of $330.

You can get the Ultra 2 "Premium Refurbished" on reebelo.com for $549 with certain band types and colors, can also find $20 off coupons floating around. I don't have much info or history on them but I did order a stand for my Battery Google Nest Cam, it arrived today and looks to be in good condition, haven't tested it yet.
They claim to come with 12 month warranty (from the seller), not sure if that's worth anything, and free returns within 30 days.
Anyone have any issues in the past with reebelo.com?
I love my ultra 1 but lord Apple overpriced these things @800.
I find it interesting that you feel that way. When you compare the ultra watch to other Apple products it's actually one of their cheapest offerings. Everybody thought it was going to be $1000 or more.
Now to find out how good of a the ultra watch is you need to make a few comparisons first
If you compare it to other Apple watches that have
1. Sapphire glass crystal.
2. Cellular capability.
3. A premium metal enclosure.
Looking at Apple watches that give you those three things are typically $700 or more. Sometimes they have been over $1200.
$800 get you the most rugged damage resistant Apple Watch, with the longest battery, life, several additional features, and all of those things that I mentioned.
If you don't want any of those three things, I guess the value proposition is different

Definitely one of those items that if you use it to its full potential and take advantage of everything it does offer, $800 isn't overpriced at all. There are a lot of people who would be more suited to own a Series 8/9/10 but paid twice that for an Ultra for features they could easily do without.

Yeah, I can completely agree with that.
