Some Ultra 2s do have the sensor. For instance you can still get them new from Costco with the sensor for $100 more - https://www.costco.com/apple-watc...18736.html. If the MPN ends in LL/A it has it enabled, LW/A it doesnt.
Personally I just went the used route. Found one with the sensor and 100% battery in good condition and saved a couple hundred bucks
I have the Ultra 1 and absolutely love it, and I don't see a need to upgrade to a Ultra 2 or the new black one and I want to upgrade but there hasn't been much improvement or new features to justify the cost difference of a Ultra 1 vs Ultra 2 IMO. You are likely to get better deals especially if you are willing to go refurbished/renewed or used. (Ultra 1 Renewed is $499 on Amazon right now)
The main new features you get with Ultra 2 are:
Double tap gesture support
On-device Siri with health access
Precision finding for iPhone
Hardware differences on the Ultra 2 vs. 1
1000 extra nits brightness on the Ultra 2
S9 Chip (vs S8 on Ultra 1)
64gb storage (vs 32gb on Ultra 1)
Gen 2 Ultra Wide-band chip (gen 1 on Ultra 1)
72 hours of battery life in low power mode (vs 60 on Ultra 1)
Ultra 1 would have Blood Oxygen if made and not refurbished before 2024 (from my understanding)
Not a noticeable difference in any way to 99% of users.
They didn't really pay double. Even without needing any of those features:
1. Stainless regular watch with sapphire glass. $ 729.
2. Ultra $ 799.
It's a $ 70 difference.
Or
Aluminum with cellular. $ 529.
Ultra. $ 799. A $ 270 difference,
For me the real consideration is the longer battery life (a positive), vs the chunky (a negative),
I was comparing it to the Series watch without cellular, since the majority of people probably do not need it, yet it's a standard feature on the Ultra. Series 8/9 were under $400.
Yeah it popped up on the product page after I was refreshing each day for a week or so hoping there would be something. Once it popped up I ordered which was this past Friday.
Mine arrived yesterday. MINT condition with a 100% battery. Brand spankin new basically. Also was able to use a 10% off coupon code for refurbished items which made it $490
Do you know if yours came with OEM bands? The stock photos for some does not look like oem bands. I could be wrong though.

Wow $490 is awesome. Thanks for the confirmation on battery life.

I have the Ultra 1 from launch day. I never charge over 80% except for maybe a handful of times (charging while i shower gets me to 80%).
Just checked battery health and it's 98%.
I have had the U1 from launch as well. I have optimized charging on but I only charge it every other day or longer (typically when it gets below 10%). I wear it to sleep as a sleep tracker too. My current battery health is at 95%.

Does it have any AC+ left? Make sure it pairs up with an Iphone .....There are many fakes and U2 with Beta IOS installed that wont pair up..If you still have AC+ and it pairs up with an Iphone you got a great deal

I was coming here today to give a data point for a website I purchased an Ultra 2 the other day that I had never heard of incase anyone was inquiring about them. I immediately started to google how to tell if watch is fake, etc. because I thought I got a decent deal. Anyway, here is the info.
I purchased from Reebelo website, seller was quickshipelectronics. It looks like the website is a middleman for refurb sellers of electronics. They had 30 day free returns so I took a chance on placing the order for an Ultra 2 with a condition of "premium" (battery health is minimum 90% per their website). Received the watch last night.
- Watch came with authentic Apple Watch box, band, and charger from what I can tell.
- Paired with iPhone perfectly.
- Battery health shows 100%
- the settings show that it still has Apple warranty until July 2025 (checked with Apple's website using the serial number and it matches).
- Looked over the watch body and face and don't see any blemishes but need to look at it again in daylight to double check.
- Price was $549 - $20 coupon + tax.
- One thing I did notice on the refurb was that it seemed to drop in battery level a good amount from last night when I charged it until this morning. Charged battery watch upon arrival so I can update and set up, charged it to 95% before starting the update to WatchOS 11. This morning at 7:00 am it was 79%, not sure if setting it up, downloading the apps onto it, updating causes that much battery drainage. It just seemed like a lot to drop if this is supposed to last 36 hrs or so on a full charge.
I had actually ordered the Amazon $689 one from this deal and have 14 more days to return it. I will test this refurb out until that time comes to see if it works fin and no issues before returning the one from Amazon.

I purchased from Reebelo before.purchased and returned without any hiccup. They are legit. If you have AC+ on the watch take it in and they'll replace it for you.
I'd rather buy stuff from TEMU than Amazon. Amazon became very hard to process returns and lots of times I got diferent than what I ordered on used/refurb orders
But ya, set up an appointment with Apple to check why the battery acts out. Do it before the 30 day return lapses

It does not have AC+, just the regular 1 year warranty. But it does tell me on the watch, and the Apple website, that I have 5 days left to add AC+. I don't know if AC+ is really worth it for me though, I don't rough up my watches.
If I do take it into the Apple store to have the battery checked out, do I need to tell them that it was a refurb? Or will they know that anyways? Just wasn't sure if refurbs from someone other that Apple get treated differently and maybe the 1 year warranty is not really valid.

take advantage of the AC+. You have 5 days to do so. Dont tell them anything of the history of the watch..just take it in before the end of AC+
Set up an appoitement with genius bar soon.. Weekend is part of the 5 days

Yes it still has apple care and pairs perfectly with my phone. It's legit
