250-300 nits 45% NTSC Display.
1080p on a 17" display? Almost a grand for open-box fair? Had this been excellent condition it might have been something to consider. The only good thing about this is the processor.

All that along with this being available hardly anywhere, makes this not a deal at all.

Hmmm? 1080 is perfectly fine for 17 inch. Search gaming laptop Reddit and you'll find tons who agree. Also for Best Buy, I've had fair condition look perfect, so it's always YMMV. It's slightly over $1k for good though

The gpu is also good. As is 1tb drive. FYI 4070 is a great little gpu

Lastly, lots are showing up in California. I would imagine they are harder to find in small cities.

1080p is fine for 17"? Yes if you're 50 or above. The display will be pixelated.

I can't tell if you're being serious. You really think ASUS has ROG Strix laptops with pixelated screens? 17 at 1080 is perfectly good my dude

1080p on a 17" screen with that CPU and GPU? I have a 2022 version of this with a 15.6" and it's 1440p.

Why are people TDing this for being 1080p? 1080p looks perfectly fine on a 17 inch screen and games run way better at 1080p than 1440p. I'll take those extra frames to actually get my high refresh rate.

I can understand if you have an issue with the condition being sold, but the screen is fine.

Yeah I've never understood the purpose of 1440p/2160p on a laptop screen. Maybe if you're doing some sort of production workload or professional/graphic design work maybe it would matter?

But for reference, a 17" monitor 1080p monitor has a PPI of 129, a 27" 1440p monitor is 109, and a 32" 4k monitor is 137. So it's like, unless you're watching content or playing games from 6 inches away from the screen 1080p on a laptop is the way to go. Higher refresh rate, more battery life, less taxing on the GPU far outweighs the benefits imho.

People are TDing this just because Wahajahat didn't post it.

People are TDing this because it's a bad deal and people can clearly see that, also that this is hardly available anywhere.
But go ahead, continue being childish.
