I was gifted one of these, and then my father-in-law put it in the microwave and it fried.

I love my travel mug. Can't live without it. Those with kids, I get up and make my coffee. Then have to spend the next 30-60 mins getting the kids ready for school. When I finally am able to sit down and relax for a second, the coffee is ready. Issues I have had though. I can't connect to the mug through the app, so I can't lock the temp, so I can accidentally change my pref temp when drinking and not realize it until the next time I use it. The battery has declined quite a bit. I've learned to make sure to move it back to the charger if I know I'm not going to get to it for a while.

Good for you. My morning coffee means finishing it as soon as possible while reading Outlook so that I can start typing things with both hands. No chance for it to get cold
Wow, a self proclaimed keyboard warrior 😁

Wife drinks her coffee slowly while getting ready in the morning and we've looked at these for a while. At this price, it's worth a try. Thanks OP

Well, yeah, of course the first 2 or 3 cups are guzzled while checking emails, this is to keep that 4th cup warm that will sit awhile. Wink

It's so funny to wake up to this deal alert notification, because my beloved mug has had about half of the inner bottom coating come off so I contacted support. Literally right before we went to sleep last night I told my wife that they'd replied that since it was out of warranty, the best they could offer me would be a mug-only replacement (no charger) for $100.

I think I'll go with this instead. 😅

I agree with others here in saying these are more useful than you think for slow coffee drinkers.

Two negatives, however:

1) If you like it at the highest temp, the battery does not last more than about 45 minutes
2) The coasters which charge it are proprietary and they SUCK - they're cheaply made, and the charging pins break on them pretty quickly if you drink more than a cup or two a day. Reduce the lifespan by 20 fold if you put anything in your coffee like sugar.

Replacement coasters cost a whopping 40 USD.

I have 2 of them sitting in their boxes in another box lol I think they are the original ones, travel mug and then the regular mug. Just too finnicky with touching here to turn off and it doesn't turn off, etc.
Maybe an issue with the Gen 1? I got a Gen 2 as a gift from a vendor. I'd been Ember-curious but could never justify the price. It's honestly changed the way I drink coffee.

I didnt even know there was a power button on it until i noticed it several months after using it. It's always powered on and off automatically for me without issue.

I got the 14oz from goodwill for $20. I'm a huge fan. Seems to be some confusion on these. There is no on/off button, the mug has multiple temperature sensors and it turns on when it senses a hot liquid in it. It turns off when the liquid is consumed or the battery dies. Mine has a battery life of 75 minutes at the highest temp- 145F. Anyone know if the coaster is the same for gen1 and gen2? Would be handy to have a coaster in two rooms. Of course the 14oz is already sold out Frown

We have a mix of Gen1 and Gen2 at our house, and while the coasters look different (Gen1 is wider base), the mug bases are the same and I'm sure we've mixed them up before - they both charge correctly.

The Gen 2 has a button on the bottom, you hold it down and it turns off.
Pro tip for my ember fam, buy a small pack of rubber coated baby spoons to stir your coffee.
Never use a regular spoon as it will chip the coating.

Dang it, the 10oz metallic colors sold out as I was clicking buy. Went with black instead.

Nespresso Vertuo regular coffee size is 7.7oz so the 10oz should be sufficient if you drink with minimal milk or black.
