Non-owners always have a LOT to say about these – and believe me, I get it, I swore up and down I never wanted or needed one of these things. I got one as a gift two years ago and I would unequivocally say I would buy myself one now and have given a few as gifts. They just WORK and are perfect for a slow coffee drinker, like myself. For the record, I only opened the app once, I don't need to futz with temps after one setting.
My main tip, though: do not waste your time/money/coffee on anything less than the 14 ounce, the 10 ounce is just TOO little.
In my experience the warranty isn't the best. Have the Mug2 and lid broke when I pressed it in after a few months. Had to practically beg for them to do a one time exception and send me a replacement after sending pictures and videos of broken lid. Still had receipt and within 1 year of ownership.
The Gen 2 has a button on the bottom, you hold it down and it turns off.
Pro tip for my ember fam, buy a small pack of rubber coated baby spoons to stir your coffee.
Never use a regular spoon as it will chip the coating.
I got the 14oz from goodwill for $20. I'm a huge fan. Seems to be some confusion on these. There is no on/off button, the mug has multiple temperature sensors and it turns on when it senses a hot liquid in it. It turns off when the liquid is consumed or the battery dies. Mine has a battery life of 75 minutes at the highest temp- 145F. Anyone know if the coaster is the same for gen1 and gen2? Would be handy to have a coaster in two rooms. Of course the 14oz is already sold out
Man, I used do "I told you so's" long ago but now I like to hold them in and just smile. They know what you're thinking with just a slight grin.
Oh yeah, never actually bring it up, that's crazy talk. Not even obliquely. Saying "I told you so" is basically saying "please punch me in the face". No thanks. Not unless I am in a weird mood and feeling like being descended upon by a banshee.

You speak the truth. It's all about knowing you were right along anyway. But I do appreciate when a person admits their error and actually and when you don't even comment on it, it gives them the opportunity to admit it quicker next time without a hit to the ego. Win-win!
almost pulled the trigger one one but then remembered she already has a heated coaster that she's been using, She seems happy with it and it works with any mug in the cupboard, so if I'm at that desk I can put my mug on it too (just on/off, no temp control but it works fine for us)

I use one of those now with normal ceramic mugs, and it is definitely better than nothing, but sometimes I get into the zone working and forget it... and if it is on that plate for more than an hour, it starts tasting burnt. I am hoping this Ember fixes that... fresh coffee is SO GOOD... if my coffee tastes like that the whole time I will be more than satisfied.
These work for a year or two. Either you get tired of replacing the coaster due to the pogos not pogoing, the battery stops taking a charge, or the mug gets in a weird state where the lights flash and there's no consumer fix. Company isn't terrible with warranty or slightly out of warranty repairs but it's still annoying.

I have 2 of them sitting in their boxes in another box lol I think they are the original ones, travel mug and then the regular mug. Just too finnicky with touching here to turn off and it doesn't turn off, etc.

I have 2 now. Only issue is the battery ability to hold charge overtime. Easily solved by using it with the coaster charger. It's def worth it in the price range. Stop Starbucks for a wk 🤣 and get this. I can't go back. heated coaster no good. On days I forget to charge overnight, I'm reminded of its utility!

Good luck! It doesn't take long for oxygen to oxidize freshly brewed coffee. There a reason some coffee shops dump brewed coffee after 20-30 mins. This ember mug surely will help keep stale coffee nice and hot for the rest of the day.

$7.99 for the Asurion extended warranty may be worth it.
