It would be nice if the tool box itself was metal. The blow-molded plastic for the tools is nice. However, I'm not sure what general household would need 6 flathead screwdrivers and 3 adjustable wrenches. The tool variety/selection could be better. I'm surprised a hammer, allen key type tools, or level is not incuded. Also wratcheting wrenches should have long ago taken the place of fixed wrenches. "For those reasons, I'm out."

It's a gateway drug to get you to buy the Kobalt work bench.

I hate these boxes. The tools never stay in. Just give me a box with drawers and the tools loose.

When you go to buy a screw driver, or adjustable wrench, your options are $10 for one, or $15 for 6 screw drivers or 3 adjustable wrenches in various sizes.

Numbers are not exact, but it is like 20-30% cash more gets you the set. Of course this is at the lower level, but that's what people new to home repair and tools are looking at. If this kit only came with a single multi screw driver and a medium adjustable wrench, that would turn them away even if the price was like $5 less. From their view, at this price, it's better to get a one and done to avoid trips to the store for a larger adjustable because they find the spigot they are trying to wrench off with the wrong tool is just slightly bigger than the jaw spread of the medium adjustable. Same goes for trying to screw down something like a hvac duct, the smallest driver is what they will use, even though what they need is a short 1/4 pass through ratcheting wrench that can hold bits.

That last one is 100% accurate even if it sounds bat crap crazy. I am in a house where the previous owner used a J hook for the duct mount. Your average person is either not that smart, or just literally does not give a darn to do anything correctly if it causes them a slight inconvenience. So yeah, I rather these new folks be over prepared than go back to 'lazy does it fine'.

I was considering this for a backup to put in my barn so I don't have to walk back and for the to my cart in my shop, or maybe even to throw in a vehicle; but the 12 point sockets are a deal breaker for me.

I have a Kobalt "mechanics" tool set with a similar box. I am very happy with the quality of the ratchets and sockets for the price. The box is trash. Every time I use it, I think, "I've got to replace this thing."

People like the tools but not the form fitting tool trays. I wonder if someone will post a 3D printable replacement trays on thingiverse that lets folks let the tools stay loose so you can add more? https://www.thingiverse.com/searc...ray&page=1

Yea the case is garbage and most of the sockets are 12 point. I just threw 3 of the cases away last week. The trays dont really hold the sockets so the first time you drop a tray you're going to have a bad time. I pulled the sockets out and put them in a magnetic socket tray as to not ever have to deal with those garbage trays again.

I have never had a blow molded plastic tool box that was worth a crap from any manurfacturer. They get loose , the tols just fall out and are just a nightmare!
