I wouldn't recommend it
"Any speaker can be used as your front left and right speakers. That being said, not all speakers are designed for use as front speakers. Bipolar speakers are designed to be used as side or rear speakers to provide ambiance in a surround setup." -

I would add that this design isn't ideal for an object based setup either in my experience.

These bipolar speakers are great because if you have a receiver or are unable to do Atmos these speakers will give you the next best thing. So someone wants to upgrade but doesn't have the equipment these speakers would definitely help the sound around the room Even if it's a small room where the couch is to the back of the room we are not able to put speakers behind you. They will make things going from the front to the back on the movie like helicopter or a plane

Where would you place the speakers if your sofa is against the back wall?

I have a pair just above ear level and maybe a foot or two off the couch. Awesome for surround sound

I have a yamaha TSR 700 and I have a Klipsch atmos speakers ( RPA 140SA) setup as well. I use KEF Q150 as sorround speakers which are fine. Wondering if these Klipsch 502s as a replacement for KEF would be substantial upgrade to my system? I use the system mainly for movies to enjoy sorround sound. TIA

Would these work well as overhead speakers in an ATMOS setup? If so, would you want them firing left/right or front/back?

my experience with dipoles is that unless you have a theater with seating that is aimed at the angles of this dipole (ie larger room) then it works. But it is like a box with two speakers angled rather than a larger normal single speaker so it isn't as efficient if you are aiming towards one area.

I put some dipoles on the back wall of my room, it is great if you are moving around the room or set up in multiple locations - but if i would have just gone a normal bookshelf for the rear - there was not much difference.

I think if the receiver could tell type of speakers, it might amplify it more/or give it better directional sound but really basic receivers pretty much assume a single bookcase rear so what you get is not really what was intended.

Hope that helps, it looks dope though!

Thanks this helps. I am debating whether to replace my Kef Q150s with these 502s. I have a large basement area (1000 sqft) and also have atmos speakers setup (please see my earlier question in one of the posts). Also not sure if Yamaha TSRA 700 receivers support binpolar speakers. Any advise would help. TIA

I have a long rectangular living area with a bedroom door in the middle (back) an a open kitchen on the side. My pc area is kinda off set, my middle couch for drums is middle, an the other couch (where I play guitar an bass) is the other side where the kitchen isn't. Would these be ideal to use if I only had 2 front speakers?

Bass matters too. I don't wanna blow my speakers with a detuned bass. Or not hear it
