This is an excellent watch. I'm a guy with typical wrists I think and it feels substantial in terms of size but not too large. It's very lightweight. If you set the GPS mode to the simpler setting you easily get the claimed battery life. It's held up well against minor bumps. I put a glass screen protector on mine and it has not impacted the solar charging. Mapping is basic on this model, but it'll trace your route out and back fine, save a location and guide you there, compass altimeter etc. work great, heart rate monitor is solid. SpO2 is an additional drain so you have to decide if you want to turn on monitoring, but it's quick and easy to take an instant measurement. You can configure the watch face to also show things like sunrise/sunset, step count, and the 2X has a small LED light built in that is perfect for getting up at night without waking others. Of course, it can pop all the notifications that you get on your phone, and you can use it to ring your phone if it's in range and you forgot where you put it down. I turned the backlight brightness on mine down a but to save even more power, it's still very easy to read.

I would say it's worth $350. I probably wouldn't pay much more for it. I like it over the watches with the color displays as you don't have to charge this much.

Pro tip: There are small adapters on Amazon that go on the end of any USB-C cable and let you charge the watch. Much better than having to find the special cable that comes with it.

This is a very solid watch. But the size is large. The battery with solar charging lasts forever on smartwatch mode.

Honestly, I have small-ish wrists (I'm a skinny build overall as well).
I'm wearing Casio PRW-1500T-7V now (which is about the size of this Instinct) and I got used to it. It's totally personal perception, sure. But I don't feel like it's too massive even on my small-ish wrists.

It's been this price off and on the last year-ish. Been curious that whole time, but now wondering if there'll be a new one. Good price for a smartwatch that can have indefinite battery life in the right circumstances.

Thanks, I'm going to give it a try. Skinny wrists here as well. I'm wanting to upgrade from the solar instinct.

The 2x has only been around for about a year, it's not a huge jump over the regular 2 but it does seem kinda early for them to be coming out with a new one.
The instincts have always been kinda barebones, if you really wanted a "new" watch you should look at the enduro 3.

I love this watch. Had an older Garmin and upgraded to this. It holds up really well, battery lasts forever, even when teaxking activities. I have no need for another watch for a long time.

It's been 1.5 years. Instinct to Instinct 2 was 4 years, though. I doubt we'll see a 3 or 3X till late next year at the earliest, so you're probably right.

$350 is just a lot when I don't go outdoors much (the great outdoors isn't that great here). Then there's my tiny 6-inch wrists....

Great watch, had about 9 months. I also have smaller wrists but I don't think it's too large. Excellent battery life. The flashlight is a game changer for me. Use it every day.

This version of Instinct made me sell my Fenix. I love this watch so much and isn't as damn heavy as the Fenix. Most of the same features without pixels, color and music.

Bought the non-sloar version from Costco last year for $150. Love it.

The down side is sleep monitor is not very accurate.

Just sharing that I've owned this for about a year and also love it as well. Granted it doesn't have a color screen and all the bells & whistles of an Apple Watch, but I believe that's sorta the objective with this watch. Probably hands down the best feature of this watch is the 25+ day battery life (and more if you leverage the solar). I've been very pleased with the sleep tracking and nighttime SpO2 monitoring. The flashlight comes in handy more than I would have thought.

For those interested in a glass screen protector, this one fits perfectly.
