Extremely. Especially if you hold the contraction for a few seconds before returning to the start position. Be warned, start with just a few reps, 1 set, and see how your abs feel the next day. It's very easy to get comfortable with the motion and overdo it early on. Life sucks when you have pulled/strained abs. Also, don't fall for the misconception that you can get visible abs if you have fat around the stomach. Isolating muscles does not isolate fat burning. Remember, muscles are made in the gym, abs are made in the kitchen. This device will build your ab muscles.

Want to try new home cardio options other than treadmill, stationary bike. Probably cheap jump rope but getting all those other items is a plus. Also bought the ankle weights for $6

For some people it's more challenging (you can go lower) but for many it puts less pressure on wrists, which makes it also easier to turn and work slightly different muscle groups.
