Don't buy this unless you want to destroy your vinyl.

Can you explain? Is it a dull needle or something?

Suitcase players are notoriously cheap parts and poor sound quality. The needle on this will dig on records, and the motor will be inconsistent at best.

Is there really a market for people that are so obsessed with sound quality they use vinal while simultaneously listening to it via Bluetooth?

The Bluetooth is to play other things over Bluetooth on the speakers built into this, haha. It's not playing the records over Bluetooth on its own system. In other words, it has Bluetooth capability so you can connect your phone to play over the suitcase speakers, not the records.

I looked at the Walmart page again. It says:
Quote :
wireless Bluetooth connectivity, so you can listen from up to 33 feet away
I initially read that as listening to the records from up to 33 feet away, but maybe it means 33 feet from some other streaming device to the record player?

To get some clarity, I went to the webpage for the device: https://victrola.com/products/victrola-journey-bluetooth-suitcase-record-player [victrola.com] . It says:
Quote :
Vinyl Stream technology means you can stream albums out to any external Bluetooth speaker.

Stream music from your smart device though the built-in speakers, or plug in your favorite pair of headphones for private listening.
So it looks like it supports both.

Came here to say not to buy this POS and glad to see others posting already. The last thread I was the only one and someone wanted proof. Just Google man...
Anyway, if you want a budget table that won't ruin anything and sound decent a refurb audio Technica lp60 is the way to go. You'll need speakers and an amp, or for starters some use Bluetooth. I don't get why you'd want vinyl just to use compressed bt, but to each their own.
To get a turntable that will actually be better sound good and have some life and be able to be upgraded you need to spend about $300+. $500-600 is the sweet spot where they start to actually get good for the money. To get a great table from the get go will cost over $1k. Turntables are precision machines and cost money to get done right.
Vintage is the way to go on a budget.

The only thing going for this is the portability and the price, but ceramic cartridge yuck. Long ago I wanted an Audio Technica AT sound burger for crate digging in vinyl shops where you have no clue what it sounds like. They brought it back but the price is pretty dear. Of the Victrola line maybe the GO is the only one worthwhile. AT moving magnet cartridge, battery operated, 1/3 the price of the AT soundburger.

The sound burger is pretty sweet! I've thought about getting one for the one day a week I go into the office.
