Pre-ordered iPhone 16 Pro today and found that trade-in values for iPhone 12 (all memory configurations) results in $1000 value.

Rather than trade-in my iPhone 13 Pro (256GB) as planned, I purchased a refurbished iPhone 12 (64GB for $254 (including tax) and put it on the order as my trade-in. I will then attempt to sell my iPhone 13 Pro for $400+. Not a huge money maker, but I'd rather get as much as possible out of the offer.

Note: iPhone 12 mini does not seem to be valued at $1k

No boycott them until they bring back the physical SIM card capability in their new phones.

In Europe they are required to sell all iPhones with physical SIM and esim capability. And they were actually the ones that forced Apple to start selling phones with usb-c connectivity instead of lightning.

It's a $5/mo installment plan for 36 months ($180) instead of paying >$1000 out of pocket and after 3 years, what's your old phone worth? HINT: not $1000. It's a win-win for people who want to stay with AT&T, have multi-line accounts and want a new phone for peanuts every 3 years.

As long as Find My phone is disabled you can trade in any iPhone on any carrier.

I just ordered the metropcs 12 for $130 and intend to trade it in straight away one I receive it. Should I start the preorder for the 16 asap? Worried ATT will take away the 12 as having enough value for the full $1K

Please be aware there is some sort of scam going on with ATT trade in. It appears that either the post office or someone at assurion is replacing phones with cheaper flip phones and you will not get your trade in. This happened to me when I traded in three phones. They claimed they only received one iphone. The other two they stated they received some weird motorolla flip phone for which no credit was given. If you look on reddit you will see this happens to many people. I assume it is some scam that occurs at assurion, the company through which the trade in goes. I would not mail your phone to ATT for credit. ATT also refused to look up my phones with IMEI number which was suspicious to me. They were clearly stolen somewhere along the trade in process.

The majority of customers don't even know how to unlock a phone. If it's on ATT it just has to be paid off.
