Pre-ordered iPhone 16 Pro today and found that trade-in values for iPhone 12 (all memory configurations) results in $1000 value.
Rather than trade-in my iPhone 13 Pro (256GB) as planned, I purchased a refurbished iPhone 12 (64GB for $254 (including tax) and put it on the order as my trade-in. I will then attempt to sell my iPhone 13 Pro for $400+. Not a huge money maker, but I'd rather get as much as possible out of the offer.
Note: iPhone 12 mini does not seem to be valued at $1k

Later after reading more closely, I noticed 2 things. It says you only need $180 trade in value to get the $1000 credit (Maybe I didn't need to repair my phone after all). It also says that you need to upgrade or open a new line. Anyone have any personal experience on if that second part is a hard and fast rule? I don't want to let go of my current plan.
Right now i paid $36 per line (5 lines) on Unlimited starter, this trade-in credit is about $27.8 per line. So effectively it is just $8 per line per month.
So if you want to upgrade phone every 36 months, this is the way to go.
Edit: forgot to mention Costco Att deal makes this even better with extra $150
Under the $25/m plan, you can finance a new phone straight up no trade-in required. I did an iphone 16 pro max 512 gb and it's costing me an extra $38/m and I have an old iphone 12 pro max I will be selling for $300 to a friend. Ends up costing me ~$65/m for 36-months after taxes/fees, which is approx. the price of a 1-line plan alone at AT&T or Verizon.
For context, I used to pay ~$145/m with a similar deal as the one in this thread at Verizon when I originally got my 12 Pro Max because of all of the extra fees/taxes/surcharges that they tack on.

Also says something weird about paying "$79.99 for 2 billing cycles" which is not the same as a direct trade in with att. Read the fine print.
