This product is sodium hypochlorite (bleach), sodium hyrdroxide (lye), sodium laureth sulfate (surfactant), and water. As you mentioned, this is very basic and will not do much to remove lime scale. The SLES may be reasonably effective on soap scum (but probably not), depending on the composition of the soap scum. The SLES is likely in there to indicate efficacy (oooh, bubbbles!).

The product is also not a registered disinfectant and should not use the term "disinfecting" in the description. It is also not "sanitizing" but the word "deodorizing" (which is marketing puffery) is acceptable. At ~3% bleach and ~3% hydroxide, it probably does a reasonable job of killing bacteria if left in contact with the surface for a few minutes.

Looks like it's better not to sanitize eggs.

Freshly laid eggs have a natural protective coating called the "bloom" that helps keep bacteria out. Washing or sanitizing the eggs removes this coating, which means they need to be refrigerated afterward to prevent contamination.

While a good product and I do recommend it, it's not just concentrated bleach, it has soap in it. I buy both the regular Cloralen and the Max for different purposes. Bleach is another one of those things that used to be cheap but has become relatively expensive, 4ยข per ounce is a SD.

You mind sharing how you use these for different purposes?

When making a dip for sanitizing farm eggs I prefer just using dash of regular bleach. It probably doesn't matter, but my wife didn't like the suds for that purpose. For just sanitizing, I don't really want soap.

I'll use a little in my dish water, so the soap is probably good for that.

I am actually curious... How does it remove lime scale AND it's a bleach at the same time? lol

Bleach = Basic.

Acid is required to remove lime scale/hardened water build-up.

My main question is... Does it clean up soap scum and calcium build-up as well as claimed?

Yes, we Americans are a bit unique in that we wash and refrigerate eggs. But so long as you refrigerate them after washing it's not an issue and it does remove any surface bacteria such as salmonella.

There's nothing wrong with washing and sanitizing eggs. It's actually a good idea if they're dirty. The ones we get have a lot more than bloom and I'm not taking chances with salmonella. There's plenty of information on doing it correctly. After washing with warm water it's a quick dip in a solution of one tablespoon of bleach per gallon of water. Let them dry fully and in the fridge they go.

It just might work well, but I haven't tried it for that purpose. I mainly add a small squirt with when doing dishes. There is soap in it, but it doesn't replace dishwashing liquid.
