Deal HistoryÂ
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
To give a quick "about me" which might answer some questions, I joined Slickdeals as a member in 2011 when the famous HP Touchpad fire sale happened. I continued to use Slickdeals and post deals from then till I was hired in 2019.
All deals that make it to the frontpage are still voted to get there by the community and staff (some deals will make it there quicker than others depending on the sale - ex: my steam deck deal from a few days ago made it to the frontpage with a +6 score because it is $45 cheaper than the previous Frontpage deal). Some deal hunters do have certain stores that they have an expertise in (ex: Serra almost only posts travel related deals because that's their expertise).
So I don't word anything poorly/wrong, I recommend posting this question in a thread in the Site Questions, Issues or Suggestions sub-forum (linked in below), but I hope my response helps a tad. https://slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5
I've never shilled a deal in my 13 years on Slickdeals. We have some internal tools and then also use sites like Keepa to see all drops online. Once I see a deal that interests me, I then compare what I see to previous deals on SD to decide if I want to post it or not.
You can downvote my deal if you think it's not a good one, but don't call me a shill when I'm honestly always trying to find and share the best deals online.

it happened in may or june, a couple of times.
(and back then the filter was $10 and there was a 10% coupon, for a whole month or so.)
I have had a deal alert on this since Jan 2024, when I got the deal with the filter. The extra filter died on that deal pretty quick, and there hasn't been a deal this good on it since then.

Thanks for some insight into how this works on the Staff side.
Not sure if you're able to share, but are staff deals given priority regardless of the merit/rarity of a deal? Genuinely curious.
While "Shill" most obviously relates to being directly compensated by a 3rd party to promote their product, I do think there's a more nuanced definition where basically any factors outside of the merit of the deal itself could be considered "soft-shilling".
For example:
- prioritizing higher commission affiliate partners (ex. Amazon).
- artificially weighted priority/visibility (ex. Staff vs community)
- data-driven product priority (ex. "air filters always sell well, so we'll look out for those").
There's other obvious aspects of SD that kinda feel like they're "for the user", but in reality operates more like targeted ads that we all just happen to opt-in too voluntarily under the guise that everything is socially validated vs. artificially driven.

Not worth getting.
Why?
It covers 118 sq feet based on its CADR. That is on its highest mode which most likely sounds terrible and will run the fan down pretty quickly because it's probably not any good.
Buy a purifier that's too big for the room and use it on a lower level. It will be quieter, more effective, and probably use less power.

It all depends on your situation. If you're in a poor air quality situation or have a large room, then yes, you need a more powerful air purifier. For everyone else, just having an unobtrusive filter that runs in the corner and turns over the air once or twice an hour is plenty.
This is actually a really good deal for this size air purifier.
I've been using the Levoit Core Mini which is a similar one for 2 months now (Prime Day sale), and that one isn't even HEPA rated, but it's collected so much dust so far.
I was thinking about getting a Levoit Core 300s but after doing some research, they said 2 smaller sized purifiers would work better for my situation, so this Govee one will compliment it.
It's better energy savings for two smaller air purifiers AND you can run them both at low or medium for less noise than a single larger unit.

Thanks for the context. Funny because I also registered around the time of the HP touchpad sale after lurking for a couple years. What a waste of money, but it was fun hacking.

edit: and, bearing the above in mind, this is not two dollars less than the previous frontpage deal.
