Before that i had samsung freestyle(1st gen, 2nd is basically the same):
- it's not as portable as freestyle, this one is like normal size projector(something like 2kg) and you can't power it via usb-c, power brick is really huge tho
- WebOS is way faster than what samsung have, but with less apps
- keystone and autofocus almost non existent(especially if you're projecting to >3m) and settings are kinda laggy
- remote is extremely cool - gyro, with led, ergonomic and heavy
- brightness, sharpness and color accuracy really good for this price range(<800$), real 1000 ANSI lumen, maybe not completely enough for HDR, but after samsung with 250 ANSI it's like the most vivid picture lol
- sound is crap, and you gonna have that ambient light if you want to
In general i'm pretty happy with it, anyway you don't have a lot of decent 4k DLP options for that money. LG are kinda don't care about projectors, so be ready that they gonna drop support of this projector soon, anyway i'm using apple tv with it.
I'll note on Amazon this has much more mixed reviews than on B&H. There's generally not many reviews on either retailer though.
Here's a video review (I haven't watched it) - https://youtu.be/xCJEApkdVDk?si=Tac5bQoRZ08Y-HYi

Youtube is a terrible place to get a review, All shills and access journalism!

YouTube is about the only way to get a review. And you can usually tell a good review from a bad one based on how much negatives they'll let you know about. If there's absolutely no negatives or cons, then it's not a good review.
I have the freestyle 2 and generally am happy with it except for dark scenes. Happy to see comparisons to it here.
Does this have the ability to point straight up? I project to my ceiling on the freestyle 2 and it does a great job on it. No screen or paint needed. Very dark room though and YMMV based on the conditions of your walls.

Agreed especially since lumens are often inflated from projector manufacturers.
These are ANSI lumens. They're fairly comparable across all projectors with true ANSI ratings. There aren't many brands (even those random clone projectors with brand names taken from a hat) that fake "ANSI" lumens in their description.
So as long as your comparing LG's 1000 ANSI Lumen rating to other reputable brands (Epson, Vava, Optoma, etc); they're pretty comparable and representative.
1000 ANSI is firmly in the "use in an extremely light controlled" room sort of light output once you're above like 60". So if you don't have a room where you can cut all light sources (or you're satisfied with washed out contrast), I would pass.
Its a good price for a 4k laser projector, though.

they do exaggerate though not as bad as the no names but they still do all of them do it. Check out projector central and other places and they will give you the measured lumens they get and they are often much lower than advertised.

Even my 4-5 years old TK800M (4K) projector has 3000 lumens, and it does not do well during day time.
