Very nice. It's one of those deals, do you buy one assuming one day you will need it, or not buy now and get it when you need it and pay much more...

If it's tilted too far, it can't auto-level. This is what you need…

I tried to use one to hang a curtain rod but it needs to be at the same level/height. You can't point it up. Kind of defeats the purpose for me. People say to measure from the line but then you're not guaranteed level anymore.

Why would pointing it up make the level out of true left to right? I like you thought that was the value add in this device.

I depends how high you want to have leveled line.... Please, find me a tripod you can extend to 7'.
Yes, you can establish "base line" and measure up from it (that's what I do in similar situations), but, as polojeansco said, you're not guaranteed level anymore.

You can point it up. It has a pendulum lock. That means you can tilt it in any direction and it will produce a straight line, it's just up to you to make sure it is level.

+/- 1/8" up to 33' is not great. If 33' is the farthest distance you need it, it might be a good deal. Otherwise, not great.

Do NOT buy this.

I don't really have a good reason; I just thought someone might want a pep talk. Good luck!

I find it's better to wait until you need it, and buy it used from online. Then sell it, and get it out of your way.

Would this be visible outdoors? I'm working on grading my backyard and this seems like it would be helpful over just stakes and line levels. Any advice is appreciated!
