SoC = State of Charge.

When replying to someone who has asked a question that indicates they don't have much background in the topic, it's nice to avoid using industry-specific acronyms and abbreviations.

FYI the 6000 cycles of LF280K cells is based on research using a specific amount of cell compression, around 600 pounds. The cells themselves aren't different, just the datasheet with the word 'compression'. I guarantee this company did no better than tie a zip tie around these cells. That would vary compression between too much and too little as the cells naturally swell and shrink. Basically this is no different than any previous 3000 cycle battery, which would still be a daily cycle for 8 years.

These batteries are really coming down in price. I built a 280Ah battery 3 years ago for $750 which was a bargain at the time, there's just not much incentive to do that anymore. A few notes, though...
  • It doesn't look like the BMS in this battery has low-temp shut-off for charging, so you'll have to be careful not to charge below 0F (EDIT: meant 32F. Or 0C), being conservative.
  • Max charge current is 160A, so you'll have to put a DC-DC converter between it and your alternator if your application includes charging from an alternator (van, travel trailer, etc.).
  • They do mention that charging methods are a battery charger (preferably lifepo4), solar controller, or DC-DC converter, so it's not really drop-and-replace for a lead-acid battery, but it's a nice amount of capacity at a good price even with those extra expenses.

You shouldn't charge below 32° F. Perhaps you meant Celsius.

Could this be used to build a DIY power station to use in the shop for power outages? What kind of controller/inverter would pair well with it?

Agreed, that construction is miles above what it could have been. The metal frame and isolated BMS is a decent design. Looks like a great unit for the money.

Can I use these at home as a power station like anker solix f2000? If so do I need to buy anything else? I just want to use it in my garage to power all my tools, 3d printer, and hobby stuff. Thank you

Agreed. They actually did on ok job with compression, better than most. It still won't allow a constant force as the batteries swell, but compression varying between 400 and 800 lbs (random guess) will significantly improve lifespan over other options with little to no compression.

You need an inverter for that and possibly a battery charger. They do have some decent all in one options. They are not UL listed tho AFAIK, while Anker might be.

Very easily actually. You can get a hybrid inverter which contains most of the important stuff in one unit, and will manage and prioritize power input and output however you want to configure it. They range anywhere from a few hundred to 1k+ depending on brand, and specs/your needs. One of those + wire + a few other misc items to wire in for safety is all you need.

That said, there's not many 12v ones when it comes to those units, and they (the 12v ones) tend to be cheap and low power so may not be sufficient. Most of your options are 24v and 48v systems…which a pair of these would work out great for…but if you want to run that sort of thing on a single battery, you are better off with a 24v battery and more hybrid inverter options rather than a 12v and being very limited. Something like 2x of these batteries, $500 or so 3000w 24v hybrid inverter, + your wire and misc stuff would be a great cost effective system for the capacity.
