SoC = State of Charge.

When replying to someone who has asked a question that indicates they don't have much background in the topic, it's nice to avoid using industry-specific acronyms and abbreviations.

FYI the 6000 cycles of LF280K cells is based on research using a specific amount of cell compression, around 600 pounds. The cells themselves aren't different, just the datasheet with the word 'compression'. I guarantee this company did no better than tie a zip tie around these cells. That would vary compression between too much and too little as the cells naturally swell and shrink. Basically this is no different than any previous 3000 cycle battery, which would still be a daily cycle for 8 years.

This feels like a new level of price drop for these systems wow. This is around 10 cents per kwh. 2 of these and a decent inverter for 1-1.2k all in gives you 7~kwhs of battery backup/soloar charg/discharge. Insane. Like mind blowing.
Any specific suggestions of hybrid inverters? I ordered two of these batteries. I will use them for short term backup during an outage in an office that maxes out less than 2kw as long as the heater and AC are off. If I can get 3 hours, I'll be more than happy. I might, eventually, add a handful of panels. I will buy an interlock kit for the panel.

FWIW I have a 560ah @ 12.8v lifepo4 setup using 2 x 280ah batteries in my camper. I do not have a DC-DC charger and like countless others, don't have any problems charging it from my tow vehicle. I do see a measly 5-7 amps but that's adequate for keeping the battery full if traveling at night (12v compressor fridge came with the camper) and solar quickly charges it back up since I went overboard on that. I have dual alternators on my 2022 F250 so I could have multiple DC-DC chargers in parallel.. but meh.

The two critical pieces of my setup are a Victron SmartShunt for state of charge and temperature monitoring, and a Victron SmartSolar MPPT which communicates with the shunt. No worries of low temp cutoff lacking in the battery. I have a lot of other Victron gear in the camper but those are the non-negotiables on any lifepo4 pack I build.

Forgive me, sincerely, for asking if anyone can point me to where to start looking for connecting 2 100ah 12.8v batteries plus this battery to a power station that does 600w solar charging. Does a typical mainstream power station charge the batteries back and forth? Or do you have a separate way for those batteries to be charged aside from the power station.
Again. I'm really sorry for asking in case this is stuff I'm supposed to find out on my own. Mentioning a YouTube video or key word works for me as well. Thanks

This is a pretty good price and I've been tear down videos on Ecoworthy and the build quality was good. However, this battery has no bluetooth and no low temp protection. If you live in a climate and are doing an install where the temp may drop below freezing, get a battery with low temp protection. If you try to charge these LFP batteries when they are below freezing you will destroy them. As for the bluetooth, how do you know it's charge state without bluetooth? The voltage on this is not going to drop until the battery is virtually dead. So voltage is no way to know charge state.

The charger provides the current and the BMS in the batteries regulates its state of charge. When all 3 batteries are low, they are going to draw from the charger. When the battery's cells reach max, the BMS will stop accepting charge. All 3 batteries will being doing this.

I'm not sure what is your application, but mixing batteries may not yield the best result.

These batteries are really coming down in price. I built a 280Ah battery 3 years ago for $750 which was a bargain at the time, there's just not much incentive to do that anymore. A few notes, though...
  • It doesn't look like the BMS in this battery has low-temp shut-off for charging, so you'll have to be careful not to charge below 0F (EDIT: meant 32F. Or 0C), being conservative.
  • Max charge current is 160A, so you'll have to put a DC-DC converter between it and your alternator if your application includes charging from an alternator (van, travel trailer, etc.).
  • They do mention that charging methods are a battery charger (preferably lifepo4), solar controller, or DC-DC converter, so it's not really drop-and-replace for a lead-acid battery, but it's a nice amount of capacity at a good price even with those extra expenses.
Is it possible to connect a better BMS to it?

Yeah I read it isn't good to mix. If I set them to 24v should be okay. Of the combos said not to do 36v unless they're the same type. They're the same manufacturer (the other ones are the 100ah 12.8v ecoworthy batteries) but still different. Hm

How hard would it be to combine 4 of these to make a 48V high capacity AH battery to put on a trailer of an ebike? Or are there comparable products out there that are already good to go for a similar price?

Edit: Found something that's already ~48V, but still would need to figure out where to mount it on the bike if not on a trailer, how to charge it, how to connect it to my engwe ep2-pro ebike...

Wow! I paid about $260 for a 100Ah battery a few months back. This would be way too big for my little motorized inflatable raft but this is a good deal.

Question. I have a 12v 400a alternator, would I need a dc to dc converter?
Yes, I would install one to prevent overcharging

Anything like this will work -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CPLVBJRJ

It can charge your batteries off solar or utilities.

If it does passthrough (which most do), you should be able to install a smaller subpanel with just the breakers you need and you'll never have to worry about an interlock.

main panel -> Inverter -> subpanel -> lights, etc...

That inverter is 3000w, so you could only install 2x15A circuits (3000/110 = 27A)

All these hybrid inverters on Amazon get mixed reviews and talk about little or no support from the manufacturers.

I have a TIGO system with panels, batteries, etc... and it's been running for years. But it's about 5x as much as you could do it yourself.

Yes you can have both a 12v 1120ah battery or a 48v 280ah battery depending on if you connect them in series or parallel. You could use this with the addition of a 48v golf cart battery charger they have models that will charge both lifepo4 and lead acid batteries. Just to point out, not only will these have much higher capacity compared to lead acid, they will also be much lighter comparatively.
Very helpful thanks

Sure. From what I read Eco-Worthy and DC House is the same/identical.

Anybody know otherwise?
